Summer Screenshot Spectacular!
Nah, he's just implying that it's better than everyone else's!
It is looking pretty amazing, though. Actually, going back a couple of pages, your battlers really remind me of the first Suikoden, except with brighter colours.

RMNCast #9: Release Something VII: Advent Children
If you have never been to America, What do you think of it?

By gun culture, do you mean you don't like the restrictions on guns or the lack of them? People's stance on guns and the number of them differs widely depending on the area of the U.S. your in. For instance, in my area (more specifically the county I live in) during the first few months after Obama was elected, gun sales tripled and ammo sales quadrupled from what they were a few months before as everyone was stockpiling to prepare for more restrictions on guns; I doubt that that happened in many of the northern states.
Well, I guess the fact that when restrictions are tightened, people stockpile them! I know a lot of parts aren't as gun-mad, but still, when compared to a lot of other countries, the fact that a fair portion of the populace seem to have an attitude of well you've gotta have a gun is quite alien.

Late teens, never been to the US.
From what I've picked up, it was founded on some smashing ideas, but it seems to have with time lost some of the principles it was built on. Though they do still love that constitution. For better or worse, the absolute sanctity of the thing is something relatively unheard of in modern British politics (i mean, uh, GOD SAVE OUR GRAAACIOUS QUEEEEEN).
Yep, the country's very diverse and obviously there are a lot of good things about it, but I feel the gun culture, privatised healthcare and rightward-leaning politics (and the very existence of Fox News oh christ) override them in terms of whether I'd actually want to live there.

GUZZLER
Not that I'm exactly qualified to critique it, but I do like it. And I felt that it started really well. Good dialogue, as well. I'd read more.
I think there were a couple of commas amiss here and there, so maybe one more scrutinous readthrough, but it wasn't many at all. No, I enjoyed it.

Horrible Game Endings
Hahaha I've just rememberedthe bad ending of Koudelka for PSX.
I think it was if, after about 4? discs of play, you entered the last boss' chamber without getting a certain pendant, you saw this movie here.
Also, I think it was possible to get the pendant and discard it, meaning it was lost forever.

IIRC the way to get the 'good' ending was actually to lose to the last boss, too.
What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?
post=83968I've owned this for about a year, I was thinking of playing it soon... apparently a good portion of the game departs from the classic gameplay and is quite bad. Not sure what though, I know next-to-nothing about the game. Something about kids, I think...
I am playing NiGHTs Journey into Dreams from my birthday, as my first Wii game . I love it. It's as if Sonic Team decided to magically stop fucking around and make a good game.
Notes on the Second Mellynd War [RM2K3 Version] Review
M…\| my wrist…\| No, a lot of this is very helpful. In terms of gameplay, the Fenheim section is fairly atypical to say the least, and quite a few of the things you mentioned do die down, at least a bit, afterwards. Among other things, you actually level up, and the political discourse does, to an extent, transcend party alignment later on (though, now I think about it, that's going to get worse before it gets better). This is completely my fault, though… the Fenheim segment is so long, and right at the start, that I guess a lot of people won't get past it. This was a gamble/stupid. For the full version, I'm seriously going to look into re-tuning it and making it slightly more compact, and putting in some real gameplay before you get to ‘the actual game'. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to give an honest and detailed review! I've taken it all in, and it'll certainly help.
(And the first boss was so strong because he finally drew his sword, and had stolen some leather armour. Not that you'd know this before the scenes begin. I'll put in a message telling you it's a good idea to save whenever you see a tranquil mirror.)
Anyway, if you do ever get around to giving it another shot, It'd be nice to hear what you thought of it further down the line! (Oh, and you have my permission to play it in Testplay and hold shift for the dialogue.)

Linking an event to 2nd/3rd/4th Party Members in 2k3
I use a longwinded method in my game. IIRC at the party select screen every time you add a party member, it measures how many people are in the party via fork w/variable, and in doing so determines which position the one you're adding is in. Then, it changes the 'Party Member 2/3/4' variable to their number in the database. This way, when your party spreads out for scenes, it always shows them.
To use this in textboxes, like the \n function, one way is to do fork conditions depending on who it is and make a textbox for every member (which you'll have to do if they have face portraits, but otherwise is only really used to give them each individual speech, say if a party member has a unique speech pattern or mannerisms). The other way is to have a parallel process common event changing a special reserved database entry to the name of whoever's in the slot depending on the variable (or cut out the common event altogether and do this straight from the party select screen). Then just put \n - your number - in the textbox, and we're ready to go.
Obviously this means you can ONLY add people via the party select screen, and if someone is added automatically in the story, remember to change the variable accordingly! And also I'm not sure how easy this is to follow, so if you don't understand, just wait until someone inevitably comes along and gives a better response in two sentences. = )
