Stand up Comedy anyone?

Yeah, I've heard a bit of Stanhope, he did seem to be pretty good! On the whole I'm quite into the UK scene (this is possibly evident from the fact everyone put 1-2 names and I put 93), but not really familiar with too many US guys. Only seen about 5-10 minutes of most of the names in this thread, will try and watch more sometime and form a better opinion. And if you've not heard of some of the ones I listed, if you ever get bored please do look them up! Some of their stuff is faantastic.

Stand up Comedy anyone?

No-one's mentioned any British names yet!

Limiting it to current, famous-slash-established standups for the most part… I highly recommend Dylan Moran, Stewart Lee, Richard Herring… and he's kinda maligned nowadays but I still like Ricky Gervais' first couple of live dvds a lot.

Off the top of my head, some others that I hesitate to rank as favourites but probably would if I'd seen more than an hour or two of their stuff are Tim Key, Mark Watson, Simon Munnery, Josie Long, Simon Amstell (his standup is... quite different from his Buzzcocks stuff), David O'Doherty, Miles Jupp, Jon Richardson… Anyone seen/heard/have any opinions on/don't have any opinions on any of these?

(ftr, favourite US stand-ups are the usual crowd… Carlin, Hicks, Seinfeld, Emo Phillips, Louis C.K. etc. etc. (and Mitch Hedberg is probably my straight-up favourite standup, full stop))

Favorite videogame world.

Yeah, well, I love the town of Monsbaya as well, but wouldn't it suck that every beautiful young lady in the town would be claimed by another, same guy?

Your new avatar is a frightening glance into my future. I... suddenly realise a drastic rethink is necessary.

Bowing Out 2

Ahh, that's a shame. It'd have been nice if you could've stayed longer, but hey. I concur that you should leave your gamepage up, even if the next time you updated was with a dl/revive it once the game's complete... it looked really interesting.

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

Atelier Rorona. It's achieved the impossible and made me actually give a heck about item crafting (also not usually a fan of overarching time limits, but without it there'd not really be much challenge so)! It's really pleasant and actually quite addictive. Also how very innocent it is means that when a character turned up called Esty Dee I actually lol'd

Favorite videogame world.

Give me Suikoden's massive, detailed, historied, and expansive world or give me death.

Mm. The Suikoden world got to be so well-developed over the first 5 games (and spinoffs etc.), it's a shame they went "nah this is getting too interesting" and tried to reinvent it with Tierkreis on DS. If there even ARE any more instalments, they'd better be back to the old Suikoverse. : (

Slightly different criteria, but... I've had the 'which fictional world would you live in' discussion a lot and from the videogame kinda region people usually settle on Pokemon, for the whole innocence of it, but I also quite like Valkyria Chronicles, for the whole innocence of the Second World War. Although the main way VC isn't just a historical (or history-with-names-and-places-changed) setting is the Valkyrur and their magic etc. which I assume are supposed to be... nuclear weapons...? In any case, I never really got that excited about that aspect of it (plus Selvaria's cartoonish super-rack did not help matters), so...

Also, Rei's avatar has reminded me of Azure Dreams and while a little light on lore etc. the 'stuck in a thriving town in the middle of the desert for the whole game' was pretty cool, I thought! More recently, I really liked the dystopian Basel Tower in Resonance of Fate, too. I'm so glad they didn't break out of the place early-game a la FFVII. (well, they might, I stopped playing. I'd be surprised, though)

rpgmaker.net needs your help!

I'm poor as hell but turns out there was a few quid sitting in my paypal account so: donated something, at least! Can't sign up for the recurring thingy at a level higher than 'in spirit' atm though, sorry. RMN 4 eva

Cool anime theme songs:

OH SO THAT'S where that Phylomortis 2 battle theme comes from, right. It's always so weird discovering the sources of midis from old RMgames years down the line...

+ 1 for Bebop, Higashi no Eden, Last Exile (fantastic soundtrack all-round), Zetsubou Sensei and I still kinda like the Outlaw Star one but my housemate sings it loudly/out-of-tune too many times a day so we'll see how long this lasts!

(also endings 2 and 4 are as good and 3's no slouch but I won't clog the topic (also spoilers))

Still not 100% whether I like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpqwY7tsZS4 or not but regardless, every anime opening needs a cockney geezer saying the title in the first 10 seconds. And I can't find the Rose of Versailles OP on youtube after fifteen whole seconds of searching and also someone used a variation to start a topic the other day/week/month so... eh. Also good, though.
