DOING IT! - WEEK EIGHT - DOUBLE FEATURE!

post=146803
worldwide shrunken head pandemic.

I'd be damned if I was going to redraw that body in the right size! And yeah, the grey-haired one does look kind of like a wizard, just realised. Haha.

Yours would be... either a woman smacked some homeboys down, or she's walking through the aftermath of a battle. In the snow and/or ash. I'd wager it's from an introduction sequence?

Tyger, the best I can do is... Faris wants to save the world, so the, er... gentleman of stunted growth electrocutes her. Then tries to magic her back alive with the power of love. And it doesn't work, so they run away. On the upside, I am more likely to play the game to find out what the heck is going on!

Best VG Soundtracks + overrated

Good lord, Tonfa. On the strength of Winter, I'm checking out the entire Hanakisou soundtrack and am enjoying it immensely so far!

'kenji... eatto? who's that?' ~ rpgmaker.net
I put Kenji Ito, albeit with the disclaimer of not having heard much. : (

edit: although in retrospect, I put perhaps far too many people. But I listen to my handful of RS songs quite regularly, so

So, I missed out on the Gamecube era...

Fire Emblem 9/Path of Radiance was pretty good too, if you can find it. And I actually quite liked what I played of Pokemon Colosseum, wouldn't recommend it to everyone but you seem to be a Pokemon fan so might want to try it out.

ohhh man, Gotcha Force. Still not sure what I made of that. Might give it another go...

Theodore XP

Heyyy. Would anybody happen to have a full set/more of Theodore's XP tilesets? I can only find the ones under 'Créations Théodore' here http://www.rpg-maker.fr/index.php?page=tilesets&type=theodore. Thanks!

DOING IT! - WEEK EIGHT - DOUBLE FEATURE!

Hahahaha oh my gosh, these are hideous. Tempted not to in the end because they don't advertise things well, but yeah, that's hardly in the spirit of things!

As there's not really much to say about this one and it includes the main character (as does the next), I'll give one from a different game as the bonus one...

From an additional character's POV. I apologise profusely for using the right-hand face. My games are ACTION-PACKED.

edit: whoa, this one actually kind of has the feel of authentic really bad concept art to it! If it wasn't for the emoticon face, anyway. Should've saved this for an April Fools...

Other people's:
Nessiah's is fantastic, this is plain to see but nobody's said it yet so just thought I'd do the formality. Nice work!
And yeah, the impression I got from LockeZ's was that Bluehair (Top-Right of Chara4?) was an official of some sort and that after swording him, the toaster knight was going to take off his armour and go HEYA BUDDY, HERE TO GETCHA OUTTA THIS HOLE, but I may be wrong!

Best VG Soundtracks + overrated

I like Rei's list a lot, other than not having heard much Michiko Naruke. My favourites list reads much the same, with the addition of
Yoshino Aoki - Breath of Fire IV
Hitoshi Sakimoto - Valkyria Chronicles, Final Fantasy Tactics (w/Masaharu Iwata)
Falcom Sound Team JDK/Yuzo Koshiro - Ys I + II, Ys VI (and presumably all the Ys games, reputedly having fantastic music)
Cing? - Hotel Dusk
Noriyuki Iwadare - Grandia
Masahiko Kimura - Suikoden IV (probably best thing about that game)
Norikazu Miura - Suikoden V, Tierkreis

And I've got a soft spot for the Pokemon soundtracks, Tenpei Sato's Nippon Ichi stuff and Motoi Sakuraba's admittedly quite samey stuff as well. And haven't played a lot of the games, but of what I've heard (mostly battle music) Kenji Ito's Romancing SaGa 2 and 3 music is really good as well.

Top 3, err... I know Suikoden II and Final Fantasy Tactics are the top two... and probably Breath of Fire IV in third.

I'm into soundtracks.

Notes on the Second Mellynd War [RM2K3 Version]

There's a nice reason behind that. If all goes to plan, you'll find out soon enough!

Rigby, sorry for the laaate late (whoa, this is late) reply! The file should really be packaged in there, but yeah, the demo's... soon to become very outdated, so hopefully it shouldn't really be an issue for much longer.

Grace's Diary

This seems extremely reminiscent of Hotel Dusk for the DS... primarily the art/animation style and the split-screen kind of layout. Not that this is a bad thing at all!

edit: Tezuka beat me to it.

edit2: Hey... it seems this game was the winner in a teen-dating-violence charity's game design contest. That's a pretty worthwhile accolade, dude. Maybe you should put something about it on the gamepage, even if the charity's mentioned in the game...

DOING IT ~ WEEK THREE

This is a good event. DOING IT in general, I mean. I've had fun with this one. I'm working on two prequels to my main game, these are from the one I've almost never mentioned. Mostly fairly minor characters. Criticism welcome etc.

Background: game is set in a city in a country called Orville. Soldiers from the country of Leyland occupy it at one point. The Great War was 4 years ago.

Mr. Brydon Norfolk
Brydon is the current reporter assigned to the Leylandian House of Commons Anti-Corruption Committee, and a friend of chair Remiel de la Croix. With a very middle-class upbringing and being a school-leaver at sixteen, Brydon learned to exercise natural charm and finesse to get where he wanted to in life, and got work on a number of local papers before being recruited into the Anti-Corruption Committee. Sent to accompany the Leylandian occupation of the Orvillian capital and make sure that it's all above board, Brydon is a kind, helpful man who comes to the aid of the protagonists more than once. The game that this is a prequel to has revealed that Brydon was, unfortunately, killed inbetween the events of the prequel and the main game.

Private Clifford Hartland
'Cliff' is a low-level twentysomething soldier, sent over in the - essentially peaceful - Leylandian occupation. Almost immediately striking up a fierce rivalry with an Orvillian private he met, Cliff is immature, hot-headed and single-minded. He sees himself as a loveable goof. Most other people see him as an exceedingly unpleasant man. In his youth Cliff was home-educated, and it was actually his terrible mother that he learned his selfish braggadocio from, rather than any kind of masculine influence. They were never able to convict her of fraud due to lack of concrete evidence. He seemingly made it through the entire Great War without any real injury, and has remained in the army ever since.

Private Hahn Gerhard Krause
Hahn is the Orvillian soldier that Cliff antagonises night and day. But it's fine; though the more mature of the two, Hahn gives Cliff more than enough trouble back. Soldiers from both sides of the occupation have commented on how these two, whose armies were clashing on the battlefields merely four years ago, are now waging bloody war against each other through the medium of minor buearucratic setbacks. Hahn had intended to be a great playwright or actor earlier in life, but foresaw the war coming and joined a protected trade to avoid conscription. He did, however, join the army in the postwar period, feeling that the lifestyle would give him an experience he duly needed and help him grow as a person. Then he met Cliff, and it didn't.

Mr. Heribert Mueller
Mr. Mueller owns the hardware shop where the protagonist works. A very 'hands-off' proprietor, Mueller lets our hero manage the shop, while his days are mostly filled with talking four-hour long strolls around town and reading trashy novels in his office. He was conscripted in the last few months of the Great War, but was assigned to one of the few units given experimental pistols and quite soon had lost three fingers in his right hand due to an accident. He was in a field hospital, practicing to write with his left hand, when news came of the war's end.

Mr. Ekkehardt Grutter
Mr. Grutter is an ambling, out-of-it, middle-aged-to-old man with a slightly sinister way about him and a very mean face. Every time he's in Mueller's hardware store, he's buying packs of nails for an increasingly-worrying unknown purpose. Apparently he's actually very kind, but there's not really any evidence to substantiate this.
