Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas, everyone! I hope that you are all able to happily enjoy the holiday season, and that each and every one of you are to have a great new year to follow.

And so...

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!! Wooo hoo hoo!!!

The Art of Ephiam

I have not done one of these in quite a while, and because I am in the mood to draw these days... well, I have decided to make another topic dedicated to my "art"! I will not be producing these in quick succession, though, as my work station is a tad...uncomfortable. My back and neck and killing me after having done this, as the only real place I can draw in on my laptop's keyboard. =/

Oh yes, and this piece is done with a brush. I wanted to be experimental, and thought it was quite fun! I like it more than a pen, but I was a tad sloppy and my lineweights are all over the place in some areas. Also, I have gotten a new printer and have only now begun to actually scan things using it. Ugh. It is a real hassle. and I still have not gotten used to it just yet. =/

--------
Unlike the above, this picture was made after looking at a reference and lightly sketching her figure before inking it. I'm actually starting to really enjoy looking at something and drawing it, unlike in the past where I used to dread the thought.

This turned out fairly well, although her right hand (our left) is screwed up. I tried my best with it, though. Her lips were also a problem, because they always turned out as these bulbous blobs. I managed to get them under control in the end, though. At least to a point where it was decent, anyway.

The "Lunar" Topic

Since there's been a rise in "Final Fantasy" topics recently, I've decided to go ahead and make a topic of my own dedicated to the "Lunar" series of games. They reach all the way back to the Sega CD, although there are only two noteable true entries in to the series. They are "Lunar Silver Star Story," and "Lunar 2: Eternal Blue."

I've been playing Silver Star Story Complete on the Playstation recently (it's a remake of the original Lunar, but quite a bit of it has been changed). The battles are some of the hardest I've seen in a game, and while the story isn't exactly the most original...I can't help but not be charmed by it. It's just so addicting to me, and is a very fun game.

Uh...and that's about it from me for now.

[Title Request] Dragon Fantasy: Venaitura

Hello all. I was wondering if there happened to be someone out there who would be willing to whip together a quick Title and Game Over screen for my up and coming project "Dragon Fantasy: Venaitura." It takes on the look of an NES game, but not so much the feel (not as much as the others, anyway.)

So I was wondering if the title and game over screens could reflect that NES-ish look. The game essentially takes place in a massive tower/fortress called Venaitura, so maybe there could be a tower on there? Well, I don't know. I'll just leave it to whoever accepts this request to come up with whatever will be on it (if anyone at all).

RM2K3 Timer

...How in gods name do I get this confounded thing to actually work for me? I can remember working one of these only once, and it was in RPG Maker 2000. Never tried it with 2003. is there a problem with it or am I just not doing something right? I set it, then tell it to srart...but it does nothing. It just goes back to 00:00.

Lunar Resources

Does anyone out there happen to have,--or even know about--some Lunar (Either Eternal Blue or Silver Star Story) resources? I have a few from the GBA port of Lunar 1 (Entitled "Lunar Legend") but I thought it'd be best if I posted something like this to see what else I could find. You never know what some people may have!

(Battle characters and animations preferred)

Boss Project IV Request (BOSSES)

Hello everyone! So I've recently began development on my RPG Maker 2003 project entitled "Boss Project IV." It is the fourth game in a series of RM2K3 games devoted strictly to fighting bosses. However, unlike those before it, I'm making sure that the fourth one has a plethora of bosses to fight.

Now...what I need from all of you are a few ideas for the bosses. I've a good 5-6 done so far, but I figured that the best way to get idea for new and special bosses would be to ask around. Thus here I am doing just such a thing!

The bosses are ranked from Low to High-Tier. For now I will only be taking Low Tier submissions, and will move up through the ranks as they are needed in the game.

I will list the status effects, magic elements, and weapon attributes bellow, as well as the MAX stats for Low-Tier bosses.

You will have to post a picture to accompany the boss, and I'd like it if the graphic was from one of the following games: Rudra no Hihou (Treasure of the Rudras/Rudras Treasure), Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy V, Bahamut Lagoon, or Breath Of Fire II.

List of Status Effects in the game:

Death
Toxic
Blind
Berserk
Silence
Confuse
Sleep
Stop
Stun
Power
Haste
Defense
Magic
Gravity
Reflect
Slow
Weak DEF
Weak ATK
Weak Mind
HP-Regen
MP-Regen
Mgc Drain (MP Poison)
Bleeding (Stronger Poison)
Gravity 2 (Stronger Gravity)

List of Attributes in the game:

Sword
Fist
Dagger
Rod
Fire
Ice
Thunder
Water
Wind
Earth
Holy
Darkness
Axe
Stave
Bigsword

Here are the MAX STATS For Low-Tier bosses:

HP: 40 000
MP: 100
STR: 4000
DEF: 255
MAG: 900
AGL: 40
EXP: 60 000
GOLD: 25000

And here is a template for your boss:

NAME:
HP:
MP:
STR:
DEF:
MAG:
AGL:
EXP:
GOLD:
WEAK AGAINST:
STRONG AGAINST:
ITEM DROPPED:
MONSTER IMAGE:
ATTACK/SKILL LIST: (6 Skills MAX):
(Name of Skill/Effect) + (Strong, Moderate, Weak damage) +(Party/Single)

IE:

Chaos/Confuses Party (Weak) (All)

Please do not post any elaborate designs that require constant fiddling with the Monster Group Events/Switches. Make it simple and yet effective. it is very possible to dosign a unique and challenging boss battle without any fancy events.

Thank you~!

Dragon Fantasy BOSS RUSH

A short little side-project I decided to whip-up just for the heck of it. Thought it'd be fun to do something like this, so...I went ahead and made it real! How about that.

In "Dragon Fantasy BOSS TRIAL" you enter the game normally as you would when you begin a regular adventure in "Dragon Fantasy," however when you're done choosing a name and gender, you're transported in to the "Boss Tower," a tower housing all of the bosses from the original Dragon Fantasy and more.

You work your way up the tower, fighting a single boss on each floor until you reach the 17th floor and confront the final enemy. On your way you have access to a plethora of Spells, Armors, Weapons, and items of all shapes and sizes to help you topple the massive and powerful foes you'll surely confront.

I hope you have fun! =)

Gameboy Resources (Request)

I've been looking all over for some Gabeboy graphics and such...but I can't really find much. I found some Tilesets from Final Fantasy Legends 2/3, but that's about it. Does anyone out there know of a site where I can aquire more? Or do they have more themselves? It'd be great if you could post something.

Thanks. =)

Reflections (WIP)

Reflections

Night had fallen, and the city cast under a blanket of darkness. It was all the cover he had needed to pull off his assigned task. Then again, even with no cover at all, he would still exact his masters revenge. It was his dutyâ€"his life.

The hollowed hallway creaked as his feet slid silently across the wooden floor. Shadows bent and warped across the walls, forged from the moonlight seeping in from the lone window at the end of the narrow hallway.

His eyes slowly inched from one side to the other, watching each of the closed doors. He listened intently for the slightest of sounds

He pressed his right hand to the wall, while his left held firm a rusted dagger. With each step it shone brighter and brighter, and while its task was to fulfill murderous intentions, in this light it looked almost holyâ€"a saviors tool.

The house was fairly small, built only to fit a family of three. It had deteriorated significantly over the countless years it lived, and had long since exceeded its life expectancy.

Clouds of dust hung lazily in each of the rooms. A chilling dampness could be felt running through the entirety of the structure, smelling of mold and rotten wood. Small blotches of green fungus on the floor boards would leave one wondering why it did not smell any worse.

There were no signs of life within any other room except one. A lone door sat at the end of the hallway, opened just enough as to allow a small window of light to spill through. The light was born of a candle within. It was the only source of light and heat this decrepit home had.

A small sparrow crafted of paper crumpled against the wall and fell to the floor.

It sat there for a moment before having a young boy wander over and pick it up . “Oh no!” he cried, “you've gotta watch out, birdie! The evil tiger is coming to get you! Roar!”

In popped the other hand, and this one held to a crude, misshapen cardboard cutout of a tiger. “You can't rest now or he's gonna to get you!” he said, inching both pieces closer to one and other.

As the tiger crept closer, the bird jumped, quickly turning a startled gaze. They stared at one and other for a moment, and then the bird flew away. Instead of pouncing on his prey, the tiger simply did nothing. “But you wouldn't do that, right Mr. Tiger? He's only a little birdie! He didn't mean to take your mouse! He just wanted to feed his family.” He whispered playfully, moving the tiger randomly around on the floor.

The door flew open, and in an act of surprise the boy immediately turned his head back and stumbled forward. His eyes met with those of the stranger dressed in tattered cloth.

The stranger stood still, and had his head titled on an angle. He scanned the boy from head to toe, and when he was positive of his assessment, took another step forward.

The boy had seized. His entire body shook. His face became a ghastly pale, while his fingers and toes turned dark purple. He did not know this man, nor his intentions, but seeing the dagger he held so strongly to instilled within him a great fear. He released small whimpers, slowly mustering incomprehensible sobs.

The similarities were ridiculous. The hair, the skin, that gaze...it was as if he stood looking in to a mirror gazing back on the pastâ€"looking back on a self that once was. He wanted this boy? But he held no weapons, no eyes of malice, nor aura of evil intentions. Instead, he had only seen himself.

“Why did you steal the belongings of my master?” he whispered. His words were broken, and hard to understand.

They stood in silence.

“ If you don't want to die, then answer me. “ He said. ” Why did you steal something that wasn't yours...? Why did you sin?”

He waited momentarily for a response, but grew tired once he received little more than a handful of grunts and whimpers.

And that's about it so far. I'll post the rest of it up as it's completed.

This is just a major rehaul/editing of a story I'd come up with earlier the year. I'm just trimming it down and trying to make it...better!

So how's my progress? I don't think of myself as someone who's proficient with this sort of writing. I stink at describing things. =|
