FELDSCHLACHT IV'S PROFILE

Hey, what's up? My name is Feldschlacht IV, but a lot of people also call me Mog, so that's fine too. I like working on my game, and I also like downloading some of your games and giving them a spin as well. I'm also big on community related things to get all of us together for whatever reason. If you're sticking around here, you'll definitely see more of me in the future.

See you later!

I'm so glad you liked it! I'm only a 1/3rd of the team but I speak for the entire crew when I say thank you for playing!

There are actually people who enjoy random encounters, believe it or not. At the end of the day, it's his/her (their) game, and no matter what they choose, they will have an audience either way.
That's not my point. My point is that people who enjoy random encounters are unlikely to not play a game because it doesn't have them, whereas people who don't are. It's limiting your audience needlessly.

So then he asks himself the fundamental question; what's more important, his audience, or what he wants to do?

This got me thinking. Is there anybody out there who legitimately likes random encounters? - We tolerated them for a while only because they came with the rest of the package, and the words 'Final Fantasy' actually meant something cool before. And nowadays I guess that feeling of nostalgia we're all looking for isn't complete without a pinch of masochism... But to dismiss what's fundamentally wrong with the system with an "Others have done it that way" or "Is a matter of opinion" unless the message is delivered with kitchen gloves on is kind of worrying.

The whole idea is to give more control to the players and leaving them less at the mercy of whatever obscure formulas are at work... And the only Pro that I can think random encounters have is kind of on the practical side, since you don't have to make so many monsters graphics and stuff; but with such awesome visuals this game has that sounds almost like we're missing out on something cool. xP
My way of thinking of it is like this:
Sometimes players feel like fighting battles and sometimes they don't. Sometimes they just want to explore. If there are visible encounters and the player wants to explore, then the player can evade them and continue having fun uninterrupted. If the player wants to fight, they can engage the encounter.

On the other hand, given the same scenario with random encounters:
* The player who wants to fight is rewarded with a battle.
* The player who wants to have fun exploring has what they were doing interrupted by a battle they didn't want to fight, and has to waste time either winning or running away so they can return to what they were actually enjoying.

Having touch encounters satisfies the needs of both types of players, whereas random encounters satisfies only some players while annoying the others.

There are actually people who enjoy random encounters, believe it or not. At the end of the day, it's his/her (their) game, and no matter what they choose, they will have an audience either way.

Random encounters is still one of my favorite encounter systems, and it's still a valid choice. Some people will inherently dislike it, though, and try to justify that dislike objectively by calling in 'antiquated' or the like.

I agree.

Pardon me, but FF2 is one of the best >:C. For me though x'D.
So, crystals are... crystallized mad guys/girls... Seems promising =D.

FF 2 battle system was really bad. The stoy was not the best, but it was good and it had some catchy songs (Rebel Army's Theme for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnhX5KTpOuA) but the battle system ruins everything, IMO.

It wasn't until the SaGa series (Romancing Saga for the PS2 in particular) for FF2's battle system concept to really shine.

Atoa, this is my project and I can do what I want with it. If I want to do things I disagree on too, then I'll change it. Months ago Lex and I discussed a way to shorten random encounters random encounters and take out escape. This is before ANYONE complained about it. I'm sick and tired of not being treated like the main lead of this project. You tell me not to listen to people but you expect me to listen to you. Things are going to be different once Christmas Break comes around. I may not have a computer to work on Essence right now, but I am still in control. I was in control when I didn't have internet and Lex worked on it. If you want to be the lead, I'll be glad to give it to you. I can't work on it for at least half a year, and Lex is too busy with university. And we don't have a music composer anymore to work on it. You're the last one who can work on it. I'm sorry if I sound harsh but everyone and their mother is telling me to put my foot down with my team members, and I think I should. These concerns people are giving out are actual concerns, not "Change the way the character does this" type of concerns. I don't want my game always having one stars or 2 stars. It's not what I want. But if I keep doing things under your rule, then it will never do great like how I want it. I know I shouldn't do what EVERYONE says, but if people are having problems with escape or the random encounters, I want to fix that for my players.

Sorry again for coming out as harsh. I do love you and all still =)

YES YES YES I love it. Seriously, I do. Take control of the situation and ignite it. This is how good games are made.

I was planning to play this, but then I saw "random encounters" and "escape doesn't really work." Glad I know not to bother.

Congratulations on this worthless and rude post.

I think the best thing to do would be to make a blog detailing the situation and to assure fans that everything is going to be alright. As it stands a lot of fans are going to glance at the project, see 'Hiatus', and go 'fuck it'.

Is this still on haitus for whatever reason? I hope this review doesn't slow you guys down; for every person that doesn't like the game, there's a person (or more!) that does.

Never give a game 5 stars. Even one like this.

Ignore this person; 5 stars isn't some mythical 'thing' with a Jesus like perfection; it's a score that's very realistic if the person playing the game felt that it deserved it.
