Pizza I'm gonna be brutally honest,

I love pretty much everything about that screen
a whole lot.
The art style is very calming somehow.

Yo RMN. It's been too long. I finally have time for game dev again, huzzah ~
Here is the thing I am currently working on:

Still need to add finishing touches and dump snow all over it.

If anyone has tips for pixeling stained glass, lemme have it. It was challenging. >;

Let's Draw a Pass-Off Comic! -Finished!-

I am
so proud to have been a part of this
wow

I hate being taught art. It's fucking misery, absolute misery beyond belief. Good thing I never have to take another art course after this term!

Most artists I know don't like learning art in classrooms.

I do, though. Not because of any techniques they supposedly teach, but because I like being forced to work under their constraints to challenge myself and see if I can still come up with something that meets both their standards and my own. A lot of art classes I've taken also have group critique sessions, which I've found to be really great.

@GoatBoy: The most important things I actually use in my city tileset that you don't have are dumpsters, trash cans, and chain-link fences. The dumpsters and trash cans are good doodads, and the fences let me create a little space between the buildings without actually letting the player walk back there.

An example map from my game:

There's also a large oil stain doodad in there that I like to use, because it's something I can put on the actual roads. Though in this map I have it on the dirt instead.

Also, your sidewalks are unnaturally green. I guess you already know that though. Unless you're color blind. In which case, your sidewalks are unnaturally green.

Yeh, those were on my to-do list originally, but I wasn't sure how essential they really were. Probably is a good idea to add them. Especially the fence, that sounds particularly useful.

And well yes, a lot of things are unnaturally green because of my chosen color palette. xD
I like limited color palettes for some reason.

Nothing terribly important is missing. I will note that sidewalks are typically about 2/3 the width of the nearby car lanes... Or about twice the width of the sidewalks you have currently. The placement of the hydrant also implies that the sidewalks are level with the street. It doesn't look like there's a curb.

Noted, thank you. Adjustments will be made. c:

Second Death

Nice to see this up, at last. :>

Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!

Working on a city tileset (even though I should be working on my current games ahahah).
What do you guys think? Anything you think a city tileset NEEDS to have that I didn't include?
I should probably add cars but they'll look like shit.
- Note that I'm not aiming to make a huge all inclusive metropolis of a tileset. ;;

Drilling for motivation when the well is dry

First and foremost - do not stress yourself out. Don't berate yourself for being a slacker or accomplishing nothing. This, at least for me, is a very excellent DE-motivator. Stressing out about how much work I have to do almost always means I won't get it done.

I need to relax and put myself in a good mood. Think happy thoughts. Listen to epic music. Don't get too cozy and stuff myself with junk food.

Unlike Gabicho, seeing other people's progress on their games usually makes me feel the need to churn out some work of my own. Maybe I'm secretly competitive? >w>

Anyone else doing NaNoWriMo?

I tried once. Got about 30k before I got distracted.
Maybe I'll give it another go some year, but I've got too much on my plate this time.
Good luck, though, accha. c:
