An FFX thread for you schmucks

The International version was released in Europe I believe, so an English version is available.

VULTURE.

Shade of blue text on another shade of blue background is hard to read. Change the colours so the text actually stands out please.

Besides that it looks good though.

[Demo] Last Legend

What is this silly talk? 'First Rm2k3 Game' and 'Original Music'? 'Custom Systems'? My good sir, I've played plenty of 'First Rm2k3 Games' and this totally does not fit the bill. They all used Squaresoft music, and none of them had any fancy dancy party switching systems!

I'll be giving it a spin this weekend and I'll let you know just how far off the mark of 'First Rm2k3 Game' this is ;)

So what does Forbid Event Overlap mean...

I think its about not letting events occupy the same square (or moving one over the other). If one event has 'Forbit Event Overlap', other events will treat it like a brick wall.

Yes.

Via a Gameshark because fuck some of those requirements. I only got Auron's, Yuna's, Rikku's, and Tidus' (I got lucky with that stupid race) celestial weapons legitimately.

I also cheated for money so I wouldn't have to farm Mimics.

RPGmaker 2003: How do I enter dungeons/towns/etc?

You can change the default music that plays in battles (and other places, like the title screen) in the Database. Go to the System tab and it should be to the right where you specify your starting party.

You can also change this via an event command. There should be one on the first tab, second column, near the bottom "Change System BGM". From there you can change the music that plays for a battle or when your in the airship ect. The left pulldown menu is what you want to change (battle, airship) and the right one is the new music to play.

Hopefully this is more helpful than my last attempt where I missed a step :P

RPGmaker 2003: How do I enter dungeons/towns/etc?

On your map tree in the lower left corner, right click on the root (aka the game name with the folder icon) or a map. The option to create a new map should appear. There's only one kind of map, and it can be a world map or a town or a dungeon or whatever you want (including combinations).

To go from one map to another (ex. your world map to a town), create an event* where you want the player to walk to enter the town. When the event editor shows up, click on the huge whitespace on the right to add an event command. Go to the second tab, left column, about 1/4 of the way from the top and select Teleport. This will telepor the player to whereever you specify. Now when the event triggers, the player will teleport to the intended destination.
To set the event to trigger when the player walks on it, look for 'Trigger Condition' on the left (should be between the event graphic and the white event command space) and set it to 'Touched by Hero'.

* From the main window (where you edit the map), there should be three boxes to the right of the New/Save/Open buttons. Click the yellow box to go into event mode and double click where you want to create an event on the map.

Indie games that have impacted you

Final Frontier (by BottomLine2k?) - The game that taught me to never look forward to RPG Maker games. My first overhyped and released almost nothing game experience :)

That's all that comes to mind for now.

I liked how you didn't have to win the first Blitzball game. I was worried when I was getting whipped that I'd have to redo it over and over again but thankfully not.
(I don't know where I got that idea to begin with anyways)

-+- OKAMI -+-

Okami is a fantastic game, although it seems to be a 'love it or hate it' game. The cutscenes can be pretty long at times and the most frequent complaint I hear is the 'voices' which I think is great; It gives an idea of how they'd sound if they were talking without having to do VA work.

Its a beautiful game with a brilliant soundtrack. The visual style fits perfectly with the setting. I can't recall any problems I had with its presentation, it was spot on. I loved just running around taking in the experience. Too bad the field music only plays during the day (but that's easy to fix using brush powers, just draw the sun and watch the music kick in again!)

I had a few issues with the gameplay side of things. At first the fights were hard (Waka!) but when I replayed (part of) it, everything was far easier. I wish there was a difficulty option somewhere so I wouldn't have to self-penalize myself to get more of a challange. The final dungeon was incredibly dissapointing. I was expecting something great... or good... or interesting. Issun was annoying at times too, he'd mention the solution (or give huge hints) to puzzles too quickly (And then when I do get stuck, Issun shuts his mouth :P )

At the end of the day though, Okami's a fantastic game and easily my favorite PS2 game. Its between budget games and the high end games so its affordable. The celestial brush is fun to play with too, giving the player a 'divine intervention' feel.

Not sure how the Wii port plays out. I have it but I haven't gotten to it yet.
