My name's Kasey Ozymy. I'm a game designer from Texas. I made Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass and am currently working on Hymn to the Earless God.

Composers- how do you charge?
author=SnowOwl
Just out of curiosity, how long does it take for halfway decent composer to make a minute of music with let's say 4 instruments (a rough average is fine)?
If the instrumentation is preselected, this probably takes me six or so hours, but I tend to have music with a lot of changes and try to push myself when composing. If you're wanting something that's just 4/4, structurally poppy, and hook-heavy, I could probably write something in two hours; I think that's how a lot of composers keep their prices so low.
IT'S HERE! Soma Spirits is released!

I think RMN does get something from featuring commercial games. It's hard to see this from the bubble of the community, but there are actually people--quite a few--who don't know that rpg maker is a thing. If a commercial rpg maker game does well and the community acknowledges partial ownership of that--which it deserves since a lot of commercial devs honed their chops here--then that's going to help RMN expand its user base and, more importantly, get more people interested in game dev. RMN gets noticed more by tying its name to successful commercial games (or, really, just good games in general). On the other side, Pizza's already covered the virtues of advertising for a struggling commercial dev.
It's mutually beneficial, and I really don't see a downside. This is coming from someone who basically entered the community to work towards commercial development, so me not being part of the old brass is going to hurt my argument, but there you go.

Music
New track: Beach Volleyball Massacre.
This is the track that plays during Punch Tanaka's fight in the demo. This ended up being one of my favorite battle tracks, but I wanted to make sure the demo was out before I put it up on the soundcloud so that it surprised the people who stay up to date with Jimmy. I hope Punch made an impact!

Post-Demo Plans
Point 1: I'll see if I can work with a tester who experiences the lag issue and do what I can to cut down the events on that map so I can figure out the threshold for amount of events before lag starts. Point 2: Thanks so much for finding this! I have a fix for this lined up now (works on that one information guy TV) and will get cracking on implementing it at large tomorrow.
I'll take your other suggestions into account, but I'm trying to keep tutorials at a minimum. I might utilize some more information guy TVs to do that, as I've already included a few more in my version (which explain status effects).

In the demo, the Spider Web is number one. Found equipment is often better than the equipment you can buy at that time, but some found equipment will have special properties that give them niche roles. Rad Shoes are a good example of that; they don't have high offensive power, but the massive AGI increase can turn a character into a top-notch startler or guaranteed first healer.
A lot of the equipment that you get from optional content is designed around the idea of being potentially useful throughout the game rather than just being directly stronger.

@pthariensflame:
Do you have the flower form yet? You can get that by going to the beehive (in the northern section of the garden) and then exiting left. Once you have that, I hope it'll be pretty clear what to do.

@SgtMettool: If you've got time to spare, I can send you a save file so that you don't have to play through the introduction.
We are funded on KICKSTARTER!

What are the requirements of selling a game without a publisher? Is it complicated?
Either way, best of luck! I look forward to seeing more of this game. It was quite good from what I played.
That might be a question better asked of the Ara Fell folks, haha; I haven't done it yet! I believe that Steam has made it pretty simple, though. Last I checked, I think it was 100 bucks or so to get on Steam, and then they just take a cut of the profits.
And, thanks, guys!
