Lasting Dreams

I finished playing and I decided to give you a review filled with thoughts and ideas!
Thanks for your feedback! I really appreciate it! I had considered some of the ideas you mentioned like areas hidden with the map coordinates, as well as having more difficult bosses, or enemies with weaknesses, but strayed away from some of them in fear of discouraging players from continuing if things were too hard. My motivation to add things in the game was drained after completing the main quest. I'll make tweaks if people complain about getting lost, or stuck at bosses, but other than that I have no interest in added any more side quests or things of that nature. (that energy will be put into my new project "Ascending Dreams", game page coming soon)
The girl with the pink hair was supposed to play a more important role in Bishop's plan, but I sorta left it alone, not sure why. I'm more into games like Zelda 1 and Metroid where the story is secondary to exploration and gameplay. I tend to dislike games that take too long to get started and overloading dialog.

I've been playing the "Quest for the Holy grail" mini game for over 30mins and I just can't find it...
Is not being able to find it a pun?
or if it does exist then do you get something for completing the game?
It is sort of a pun... You and the Holy Grail are randomly placed in the world, and the world is pretty big (350 x 500). It's possible for it to spawn on the same screen as you... There is currently no reward for finding it. Though I feel bad about that after you've spent so much time looking. I can add in a reward from the Wizard in an update, any suggestions? (There is a variable associated with collecting them already programmed in so if you find one now transferring your save would give you credit)

I see. Are you using a script to increase the screen resolution then? I'm pretty sure ACE has the same minimal map size like VX (17:13).
Good luck adding all transfer events. It's tedious, but some good music will definitely help with that.
Yeah I up'd the rez to 640x480 so the minimum map sizes are 20x15... The transfers are actually not that bad since I'm using Quasi movement script, it allows event's collision boxes to be expanded, so only one event is needed to cover map's transfer zone. I do have to go into the events and change a couple numbers for each map though.

author=luiishu535Just VX Ace's mapping with a 20x15 grid. Then labeled the coordinates like a chess board.
That's a pretty awesome layout, Infinite! Reminds me of the classic Zelda. Did you use any program to plan the world out beforehand?

(is it okay to double post it since we're on a new page now?)

Honestly, that map is a bit on the large side. I'd cut out at least a tile or two of height/width so that it's not as empty and bland as it currently is. There's a lot of wasted space in there.Still a work in progress, but the space is for the player to move around since its an action game, I don't think people would find it fair to have no room to maneuver around enemies. I wanted the dessert to be kinda vast and empty, and the forest to be a mini labyrinth. (i notice now your comment may not have been directed at me though lol)

@Infinite: As much as I like the concept, I'm worried fans would cast me stones for trying to reproduce the same concept... That's my concern.
My suggestion wasn't really to copy the image or that scene exactly, but the action in the art. You can do your pixel style, but notice the amount of action crammed into the picture, there is a lot going on in the background, many different things to look at, some small, some big, but the main character is front and center. I looks like that place is alive, there is a war going on!
Rider's sketches and The Splatterhouse artwork is another example of what I'm talking about. Your art is good, I just think you should fill some of that empty space with a little detail.
