FINAL FANTASY: RECORD KEEPER

As things are now, I auto-battle until the bonus battles, only turning off auto for some of the 90+ bosses just to kill them faster.

I still like my idea of changing the main event type to something that has multiple difficulty tiers per stage, each having different rewards, but clearing a higher tier includes the rewards from all subordinate tiers as well. Get rid of the whole "elite" idea altogether and reduce the total number of stages, because they're super easy for anybody who's been playing for awhile.

So it might look something like this:

03: Leblanc Syndicate

Difficulty 30
Completion:
- 1000 Gil
First Time:
- Spike Rod x1
- Mythril x1
Mastery:
- Lesser White Orb x10

Difficulty 50
Completion:
- 2000 Gil
First Time:
- Gunner Garb Dress Sphere
Mastery:
- White Orb x5

Difficulty 80
Completion:
- 3000 Gil
First Time:
- Mythril x1
Mastery:
- Greater White Orb x3

Difficulty 120
Completion:
- 4000 Gil
First Time:
- Greater Growth Egg x5
Mastery:
- Major White Orb x1

A veteran player would just do the Difficulty 120 stage and get all of the rewards in one swoop. Difficulty would still escalate as the dungeon progresses, but the hardest tier would be like 100 minimum and then cap out with the ultimate difficulty. Mythril awarded for the base tier, and then the middle tier to mirror an "elite" version. Maybe only three tiers total instead of four, but this general idea.

I wasn't exactly trying for Kefka's hastega, it was just the only one in queue so I used it. Ideally, I wanted Mighty Guard.

I am surprised you have to take it to the final phase to kill Ultima Buster with that party. If I were you, I would've given Lulu that Mako Might instead of Terra, so that you could hit the mana sphere multiple times in one shot.

"On Let's Plays" - Dev expresses plight over how LP's have impacted his game's sales

I think that if a publisher actually takes your median LPer or speedrunner to court that a fair use defense won't succeed. They are transformative to a degree, sure, but that in itself isn't strong enough compared to how much copyrighted substance is in most LPs.

FINAL FANTASY: RECORD KEEPER

Lullaby Rod is an exceptional weapon, though I actually wanted her SSB and was disappointed it was changed out for that. Not that it mattered in the end, since I got a dope katana.

Being resistant to break doesn't make it worthless. Zidane's SSB will still drop their ATK by 25%, which is pretty significant.

So, I've mastered Ultima Buster a few times now and I've found this party to be the smoothest, although there is one setup I haven't tried at all yet.

Assuming you are familiar with the mechanics of this fight, here are some of my observations:

  • This fight is a sprint. Every character should have offense.

  • Be lucky, bring Stoneskin/Sentinel's Guard, or a group Cure. Emphasis on or, because you only need one of those things. Ultima Buster's group spells won't kill you, but you'll need to heal if you aren't mitigating them. The only time I've seen Meteor used is if I am slow. From what I gather, Meteor is scripted and is used if you don't bring him into Phase 2 fast enough, so I suggest just burning him quickly.

  • Five offensive characters and Hastega will kill Ultima Buster during Phase 2. Four offensive characters and a Hastega cuts it close and is high risk. Without Hastega, you must destroy the Mana Orb with non-elemental spells or by using a Reraise SB to survive Ultima.

  • Mana Orb has really high RES. You need an -aja to break 1k damage, or an -aga and Faithga with good weapons. Ninja scroll magic doesn't care and does 3k+ damage with synergy.

  • Ultima Buster is immune to pretty much everything during Phase 2. This includes summon magic and Ruinga. What it does not include is ninja scroll magic, surprisingly, and that 3k damage Tyro can do will add up in your favor. This probably means a pure ninja party is effective if you're willing to craft a bunch of Thunder/Fire scrolls.

  • If you can't kill him during phase 2, be aware that Ultima and the Nightmare spells are RES-piercing. However, they do not pierce elemental resistance if you want to bring accessories for that. Wall is only good against Meteor and his other group spells during Phase 2. His Nightmare spells will one-shot anybody who doesn't have more than 5.2k-ish HP, and that's very few mages, so just blow his ass up before he wipes the party and you'll master. If you already have your own Hastega or aren't bringing one at all, then a Reraise or Raise RW is probably good here (Rosa's is a group Raise, for example).

  • Lure Magic/Reflect and Carbuncle are good for business. Latter requires fewer slots. Phase 1 is all single-target spells as long as you don't trigger the aforementioned scripted Meteor. Phase 2 has counter-Death, which can be nullified with Reflect.

Anyway, my first mastery was with a Lure Magic/Reflect and Stoneskin setup. I had to kill the mana sphere with Flare and Maduin and then burn down about 40% of his HP in the last phase, with Terra and Golbez being the only survivors. My best party, as pictured above, easily kills the boss during Phase 2 before he even gets his third Ultima charge. Terra has Curaga because who knows why--she never used it. Interesting fight. I am interested in trying a pure ninja party if I can be arsed to craft more ninja scrolls, which is unlikely. The RES-piercing nature of those spells makes it easy to break 1k damage against the Mana Orb, which guarantees hitting Ultima Buster for 10k.

glad you finally got a katana, jude =P

First katana and first SSB.

For the chimera, don't forget you can also Stop them, and there's even a stop dance to help you out with that. Also, don't underestimate defensive accessories.

I've done 3/5 of the nightmare gate encounters. I'll do the rest tomorrow.

Nevermind. Didn't realize Ultima Buster would only cost one stamina, so I was able to do it now. Took several tries to figure it out and my group was still sub-optimal, but I'll post more about it tomorrow. Just don't bring low rarity spells thinking you can draw out the mana orb phase--you will not do enough damage.

Chain of failure is broken. Got a Yoshiyuki for Sephiroth. Next pull will be banner 4, probably.

I like how somebody drew a missile shooting out of a cloud of smoke and whoever did E3 just totally ignored it. Anyway, The panels surrounding mine (D2) were pretty stand-alone and I didn't do anything creative with my half of the UFO, but whatever... at least I didn't draw a giant floppy cock like I'd planned to originally.

FINAL FANTASY: RECORD KEEPER

The free dagger we got is pretty great. High attack power for a shared dagger, and will be useful for tomorrow's FF10 event.

I'm Going on Vacation! But where do I Go??

If you're looking to go camping then I recommend Grand Teton national park in Wyoming. It's easily the most beautiful state in the country--only Utah comes close.

Honestly, FF5 mobile isn't too bad if you can get past the character sprites and tile work. The monster sprites are excellent and it plays fine. The PC port of it has some unfortunate quirks with the controls and UI, though. I've been itching to replay FF9 for the last four months or so, but keep waiting for it to hit PC... my patience is reaching its end, though, so it needs to happen soon.
