FINAL FANTASY: RECORD KEEPER

Second FF10-2 banner looks cool. Auron's weapon in particular looks like it has a very powerful limit break. Because I skipped the second FF2 banner, that does give me some flexibility on how I can spend my mythril and my FF10 gear is beginning to fall behind a tad. Though, I was looking at doing an extra SSB pull. We'll see if I'm overcome by impulse or not. First FF10-2 banner looks pretty shitty to me, though, including Yuna's burst.

Tangent: Check out the new Brass de Bravo 2 album. Already downloaded my copy and it's better than the first one, which was still pretty dope.

All three lucky draws failed for me. Third one didn't even have any 4-star items.

Welp, those chimeras handed my ass to me. FF2 definitely like throwing a gazillion enemies at once at you. But I guess that is very true to the game, where up to 9 small enemies could attack at once.
Chimera almost exclusively do physical damage. Use Draw Fire/Retaliate with your best dude out of Gilgamesh, Auron, and Tyro. Shellga to mitigate their fire magic, and Heathen Frolick if you want.

I can vouch for Air Knife being dope. I bring Bartz to a lot of shit to take advantage of it. Also, what support are you using instead of Fran? Killer Bow is a top-tier limit break and I tried for that during the last FF12 event and tried for one of its peers in this FF2 event. -40% ATK/MAG on an entire group that stacks with Magic/Power Breakdown and Full Break. The only thing "better" is Heroic Harmony, which trades away the damage for an extra 10% reduction.

If you want, you can do D2.

Alright. I'll do D2 tomorrow, if that's not too wide of a window.

I don't think I've ever done one of these. I'll do a square if you assign me one. Take your pick, I guess, since I'm too lazy to choose. Also, next time you do this you should assign a palette or something. Those greens are piercing and now everybody is forced to work with it.

Isn't Asura Rod a sage rod? Also, Cypress Pile is for Vivi, not Dagger, so not useless.

Mastered Ultimate Gigas with this party:

As you can see, I can field some decent weapons which is why I decided not to pull on the second banner. I geared everybody with the priority of RES and elemental resistance.

Tips:
  • Consider bringing a Protectga that's usable on the first turn. Boulder mangled Y'shtola for 3400 damage before mitigation. Fight ended quickly enough that Gilgamesh never got enough meter to use his shared Protectga, which I was hoping would be ready for the weak phase where they use Boulder as a counterattack.

  • Fortunately, Blind makes Boulder miss. Consider Dark Shell (Craze's Super Edgar can use this... go master Partisan and Drill in orb dungeons), Yukikaze, or a character with a Blind limit break (Sephiroth's One Winged Angel, Firion's new sword). Gigas will also waste turns using Esuna to remove it, so a spammable Blind to reapply the condition is useful.

  • Nearly all of the magic damage ignores Runic and Lure Magic. Shellga is necessary. Consider Heroic Harmony or similar (Gordon's shield, one of Faris's bows) as an RW if you already have Stoneskin/Sentinel's Guard. Group Magic Break is probably nice too if you can spare a dancer slot.

  • Thunder Gigas is vulnerable to Poison. I considered bringing Edgar for Bio Blaster for the AoE and to apply the status, but I wasn't sure where to fit him into the party.

  • Somebody with a +RES limit break is pretty ideal for this fight. Celes's default, Yuna's Dragon Roar, Rikku's Guardian Targe, Dagger's new SSB, and Seifer's whatever-it's-called are probably good... plus Celes can hit elemental weaknesses for medals, damage, and speedy soul meter generation. Lulu's hairpin has a different ID so it's stackable with the above (Rikku's Hyper NulAll does not, because it split the +ATK and +RES into separate statuses).

Anyway, I had to reload once because Y'shtola got bodied before she could act, so it's one of those fights where RNG can peel apart your buttocks in an uninvited, unfair way. I believe the Gigas use Attack on their first turn, but good luck getting a 2.5s limit break off before their second turn if you don't have initiative. Second attempt went really smoothly because Yukikaze Blinded all three on the first turn, which is super unlikely since it only has like a 20% chance or similar.

Maduin was hitting for 9.8k minimum with Kefka RW in play (Hastega/Faithga), and Blood of the Summoner worked 2-out-of-5 casts (though Blood of the Espers never worked). Yuna only had one turn where she had nothing to do, so if you run a summoner you may want your second ability to be spammable if you can't match my damage, like a second summon, a backup cure, Blindga, etc.

Maria's Ruinga was only hitting for like 5.5k even with a synergized 5-star rod. It might be better to focus fire a Gigas down with an -aja instead if you don't have Meteor like me.

I've never seen Locke's Mirage Dive fail to Slow an enemy that's vulnerable to it, so it probably has a 100% success rate (I haven't actually checked). Thancred and Laguna's limit breaks are similar, albeit Laguna's does a crap ton of damage. Easy medals and two of the Gigas are vulnerable to Slow, so good for that too.

Because I brought a Faithga and no form of Boostga, Locke and Gilgamesh were able to Boost themselves with Steal Power and Mirror of Equity. This was the primary reason I went with Gilgamesh instead of Edgar for Bio Blaster, because Edgar would have to use the actual Boost ability which is less powerful and doesn't have a secondary effect. Jecht is a distant alternative since he can use swords and Punishing Palm, but mine is only L50, doesn't have a limit break, and Blade Blitz does the same damage as Yukikaze but without Blind, while Kick is straight up weaker. In hindsight, Pride of the Red Wings (+20% Sword damage) would've been better than Dragoon's Determination on Gilgamesh, because Mirror of Equity puts him over the soft cap. Craze, after you master the limit break, you should totally put Leila's Dagger on a Lv80 Sephiroth and set him up similarly to my Gilgamesh, except with Flashing Blade over Yukikaze if you've got it at R2 (which it should be, considering you have great samurais unlike me). Thinking about the damage it'd do is making me giddy. I considered honing Sky Grinder for Gilgamesh, but decided I wasn't ready to do that until I have a dragoon with a unique.

Fight ended quickly enough that I never had enough meter for group cures, though they'd certainly be useful if you have them on a character who can hit weaknesses, have a spare Mako Might, or a spare slot for Wrath.

Anyway, if you read the notification then you'd notice they changed the criteria for damage and speed medals. As a result, I mastered this battle with full medals as opposed to missing two damage medals like I usually do. I expected full speed medals for this one, though, since I brought so much group damage and they have relatively low HP.

Second Lucky Draw is another dud, but at least I got a second Ten-Gallon Hat (FF8) and a third Knight Armor (FF3), so there's some consolation.

Demon Slayer: Rise from the Ashes: choo-choo 2: Electric Choogaloo: A New Hope

I find the concept of "non-downloadable" pretty amusing.

FINAL FANTASY: RECORD KEEPER

I think it's better to have Mighty Guard than Full Break. I think you will be very surprised by how effective haste and heavy regen are. And obviously Craze means Magic Breakdown on Quistis and Power Breakdown/Full Break on your other support. Many bosses do mixed damage types.
