I've been playing with RM2K since 2000. Been working on my current project since 2006. My approach to game-making involves attempting to do things that I've never seen in other games, and incorporating all of the elements of film making (lighting, music, symbolism, deep structure, plot twists, panning, zooming, cuts, etc.) into game making. The RPG's I've spent the most time playing are FF1 and FF6, followed by Super Mario RPG, FF4, and FF5.

Ability idea - Speak with the Dead

I mean, Symphony Of The Night has shoes which make you 1 pixel taller. That's their purpose. It's cute.

Btw, another way of having this skill be a trade-off is if you have a game where you switch characters in your party, and you have to decide between a character who can speak with the dead + 5 other skills, or choose a different character that has 6 skills. And then you wouldn't be able to just cheese it by trading out your gear every time you enter a new screen. Or, instead of a passive skill, it could be a cast skill with an MP cost, so then you ask "Do I really want to blow some MP to try to detect ghosts on this screen? I dunno. Maybe if they can point me to the shortest path to clear the dungeon." There could be clues that a ghost might be present if there's like a headstone, skeletal remains on the ground, or you see something haunted happening like a book falling off a book shelf.

Wow, the official RPG Maker site forum rules are..... wow!

That site its full of weebs and pussies just like this page, so that means that you cant say anything because they are just that, a bunch of pussies that get offended and ban you.
Admins being freaking jerks because they can ban you are a thing too. Bet they are bullied in real life and get the opportunity to vent their frustration as admins of a stupid childĀ“s page.

Now i will get banned because of what i said hahaha

Weird that this comment comes out of the blue and completely unprovoked after 2 years of not posting. Of course, prior to that, the user stated that they were evading a ban on another account.

Makes me think that this account is connected to ein_Wildschwein

Card Games that were Doomed from the Start

World of Warcraft had a trading card game. Seemed like it could've been a good game if they didn't screw-up the card economy by encouraging people to buy packs so that they could open codes for in-WOW items.

The comic book card game Overpower. Started out as Marvel, but expanded into DC and others.

Later, there was another Marvel vs DC game called VS System. That game had a lot of prize support at one point.

I've vaguely heard of a game called 7th Sea.

Solforge was an online trading card game developed by pro Magic players.

Lately, ChannelFireball has been promoting a TCG called Flesh And Blood.

I remember some people playing Shadowfist. I think that was a game that had trap cards before Yu-Gi-Oh.

Need help trying to rewrite villian to make it appropriate here

He could be an immortal like in Highlander who is looking for a way to lose his immortality and die. And, rather than a magician, he can be the opposite, a scientist. Alternative to dying is, in Highlander, the immortals aren't capable of reproduction; so your villain could be trying to lose his immortality so that he can have children. He could say stuff like "I'm trying to lose unlimited power," and "I'm trying to unlock the key to terminal youth."

[RMMZ] Why was my game Denied?

Bear in mind, any feedback I give is without having seen your game. See if anything in this thread helps. Also, just to be safe, you might want to do more than the minimum (e.g. more than 3 in-game screenshots, not limited to the title screen. Write more than the minimum two paragraphs description on your game page. Try to get screenshots of your best maps and game mechanics).

Also, if your mapping is objectively very bad, you might want to open up your game and edit a few maps to be more detailed and attractive, so that you have some better screenshot material. Add more details, use Set Screen Tone, etc. If all of your graphics are RTP, you might want to swap-in some non-RTP graphics. If none of your screenshots are using Show Picture, you might want to use the Show Picture command or a Parallax Background at least once at some point in your game.

[RMMZ] Game still "Pending" after 6 days

I'll be back in one week then

While you're waiting, you should like play other peoples' games and leave reviews and comment on their screenshots and all that. You just joined here, no one knows who you are, your makerscore is 5. This will (IMO) all increase the chances that other people might play your game, or at least comment on your game page.

And don't be obnoxious in the forums.

*accidental double post*

Extremely nice.

[RMMZ] Designing for a zombie game

Replace the Poison status condition from other RPG's with an Infected status condition, and have various spells and items that can treat the Infected status condition.

Ability idea - Speak with the Dead

Some of y'all might remember that, in Final Fantasy 5, there was an ability to avoid traps and detect secrets. So if you had these abilities active, you could see hidden treasure chests or be immune to trap damage.

What I'm proposing is a Speak With The Dead / Commune With The Dead spell. Whenever you cast it, or when active (your choice how you want to implement it), you will be able to see transparent ghosts on certain screens, and you will be able to speak to them. They might say things that give you extra hints, add extra flavor to the game, they might say who killed them, etc.
