Idea for an event of sorts.

I've been thinking about this for a while, so I decided to quickly check in with the community to see if people would be down for it.

Basically, I want to do something similar to Ludum Dare here on RMN. The basic concept is the exact same, everybody gets two days to make a short game based on a theme selected by the participants. I didn't want to make it a contest of any kind, just something that would be done for fun.

I don't know if theres anything already on the go like this, although I realize that this is like a crossover between a "3-Hour" and a "Release Something! Day".

@narcodis: Thanks for the compliments. Glad to know there are fans of my work.

You have to keep in mind, this is just an early beta right now, so lots of things are considered unfinished. The save point is just a quick thing I threw together, it glows, which is why the colors look off. That'll definitely be changed for the final release though.

I did end up adding more snow and ice to it however:

I think that will suit me for now. Once I go back through it after beta testing to clean things up, I'm planning to add a whole heck of a lot of detail. I tried to add icicles to windows, however, they looked wrong so I scrapped it.

About the black lines vs soft lines, that's just the way I do things. If I tried to put soft lines on the environment, or black lines on the characters it would look wrong, so I do it this way. I think it shouldn't be that big of a problem when people are actually playing.

@Miracle: Thanks for taking the time to resprite the tree, but I'm leaving that the way it is. Not to sound egotistical, but I like the way I drew it , how it swoops down or whatever. I'll certainly keep that resprite though, who knows, I may make it in later.

And no, that isn't sludge, it's broken away cobblestone, that reveals dirt.

Nothing Is Perfect

I pretty much agree with what has been said here. I used to be of the opinion that nothing should get a 5/5, but that was like 2 years ago or something.

Really, a 5/5 often means that whatever I gave that rating is one of my favorite works in that media, be it a show, game, book or whatever. I've only ever gave something a 5 once before (Boxley) but I'm sure it'll happen again at some point.

Basically what everyone else said, a 5/5 is just an extremely enjoyable, well made work.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't think I'm going to change the basic look of those trees, they were a bitch to sprite the way they are anyways, but I love the idea of making the shadow transparent. I'll get right on that.

It does indeed have a gamepage, it's just not public yet, as I don't have enough up to date screenshots, and I haven't thought of something to use as a tagline and description.

All I can say at the moment is it's called Neo Lescia: Escape From The Iron City.

Pixels

Yeah, I got (read: copied) my style from Mother 3 when I first started spriting. I think at this point I've grown enough for it to not be a complete ripoff anymore though.

I really need more practice spriting big things.

What can you do with squares? (VX RTP Mapping Contest)

Yeah, that was official. Probably should have sent you a message.

No-Star Reviews: I did, and you can too!

Tried out Vae Turpis Eons Deluxe. I won't be finishing that.
