The Unofficial Squaresoft MUD is a free online game based on the worlds and combat systems of your favorite Squaresoft games. UOSSMUD includes job trees from FFT and FF5, advanced classes from multiple other Square games, and worlds based extremely accurately upon Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, and Final Fantasies 5, 6, and 7. Travel through the original worlds and experience events that mirror those of the original games in an online, multiplayer format.

This is a game for veteran gamers and fans of the franchise, but it's still extremely difficult (impossible?) to predict player skill levels. I wanted to add difficulty settings, but it never happened. No one's had problems in any of the streams yet, so hopefully it's fine...?
However, people having problems like you say you had off-camera is exactly why we made it possible to go back and find a black or red pendant to make fights easier if the player was having so much trouble that they couldn't progress. I'm glad that plan worked out!

Even if you didn't realize the inn was free, you still should realize that there are no random battles between you and the inn, and it's less than a 20 second walk. Items are for when you can't leave. And I think you just used up the only MP healing item you'll get for the first third of the game.
