SAILERIUS'S PROFILE
Something happened to me last night when I was driving home. I had a couple of miles to go. I looked up and saw a glowing orange object in the sky. It was moving irregularly. Suddenly, there was intense light all around. And when I came to, I was home.

How to encourage the player to explore?
The most important thing to encourage exploration is to not have there be enemies where you want players to explore. Exploration should be stress-free and enjoyable, whereas conflict is inherently stressful, so it punishes you for going where it is.
Incidentally, this is why random encounters intrinsically discourage exploration.

A Pixel Artist Renounces Pixel Art
Lastly, educating the audience that pixel art is a deliberate style is a collective effort, and the more indie games that adopt it, the more educated the gaming audience gets.
I agree with this but fear it's either a losing or lost battle. Due to the huge swell of indie games, and the fact that most of them rely upon bad pixel art to compensate for not being able to afford an artist, pixel art has become equivalent with cheap, bad games in the public's consciousness.

A very insightful article by a professional pixel artist about the relevance of pixel art in games in the modern day.
Though I never intended for Auro to be a “retro-style” game, what I intended doesn’t matter at all, and it’s 100% my fault for failing to communicate in a language people understand.
As a game developer, time is the most valuable resource a human can give you. Nobody owes us their time or attention. As such, when someone gives us their time, an implicit agreement is made and we are now in debt to that person. We owe it to them to deliver value for their time, and to deliver it efficiently.

HoloLens Games
author=Kazesui
Personally, I'm more excited about non game stuff you can make with this though, like scientific data visualization, but I'm also fascinated by what this can do for games.
I'm also very interested in that aspect of it. I work for the Department of Defense doing R&D for simulations, training, and medical stuff as my day job and we've been doing some seriously amazing stuff with the Kinect. I can't even begin to express how much of a game-changer the HoloLens is. This is going to revolutionize training and surgery.
Too bad the HoloLens probably won't be quite portable though.
Why do you say that? They said that it's fully self-contained and doesn't need to be tethered to any other device. It has its own onboard CPU and GPU, unlike the Oculus Rift.
HoloLens Games

So Microsoft just demoed architects designing holographic buildings around themselves, controlling real robots with a holographic interface, holographic pets, and decorating your bedroom with holographic posters, windows, and apps.
And Unity just announced that they're going to support HoloLens.
So which one of you is going to be the first person to make a starship simulator game with Hololens and when can I give you my money?
Seriously, though, if you told child me that I would live to see a time that anyone can design holographic games that interact with the real world, I wouldn't believe you. What kind of cool games are we going to see? What kind do you want to make?

I'm so done with Firefox.
Things I've Learned
That's what I mean. In a lot of games (most modern RPGs, in fact), the dialogue you get is based on who you have in your party, both in-battle and out-of-battle. There were several characters in Persona 3+4 I never once put in my party (namely, Ken, Akamaru, and Teddie) because I couldn't stand them.
Things I've Learned
I don't care how advantageous swapping characters is, I will never play a character whose personality/story I dislike or don't care about unless the game forces me to. I will always use a party of the characters I like, whether it's optimal or not.
If I don't like the characters I'm playing as, I don't like the game.
