HiddenChest Player Engine for RM XP VX & ACE

ThreadMakesSense = still false;
From what I can tell, HiddenChest is like EasyRPG, but for XP, VX, and VX Ace.

It replaces the .Exe, adds in a few new features, runs on Linux as well as Windows, and improves the performance of the game.

EDIT: Allegedly. Haven't bothered trying it for myself.

[RM2K3] [Maniacs Patch] Is there any way to transfer monster data (HP, etc.) from database to variables?

In battle yes, outside of battle no.

Does anyone know of any RM games in the superhero genre besides Master of the Wind & Outlaw City?

I feel like Marvel Brothel doesn't count, but I'm going to bring it up anyway.

The Best/Worst Ironic or Meme Game You've Ever Played

Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden is probably the best I've ever played.

I think the worst was this old GamingW.net game where you had to go back in time and prevent Enterbrain from assassinating Don Miguel? It wasn't horrible, but the gameplay was kind of awkward and the story just wasn't all that engaging.

It did have Danger Zone, though. So it wasn't all that bad.

Does anyone still like games with just the standard RTP?

In my experience, yeah. If you're using it well, it should get some attention. RTP is pretty nostalgic for a lot of folks.

Though obviously it depends on the game. I wouldn't really recommend making a horror game with stock VX Ace assets (unless you were trying to do something ironic, like Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared, or The Terrible Secret of Animal Crossing).

[RM2K3] Know of any turn-based CBS tutorials?

Not really a tutorial, but JosephSeraph released a CBS tech demo using the Maniac's Patch.

You can't actually use the battle system without permission from them first, but you're free to open it up and see how they put everything together.

This looks amazing. Nice job!

The Way EP 6

author=dethmetal
This was so interesting. It brought back a lot of memories and I learned a lot about the game. When he talked about the part in the Episode 1 cave where you have to walk around in complete darkness that Lun removed in later versions... Wow, I actually remember playing that!

Huh, I know I played the early version from GamingW the first time around, but I don't quite remember that one.

Also, how did this guy even find all these secrets?!

My best guess is that most of the secrets came from the Crestfallen Forums. Even before Lun started leaving encrypted messages in his games, The Way series was data-mined pretty heavily.
