Does anyone have a copy of Eyes Without a Face lying around? Tried downloading from this site but the RAR file is corrupted.
A Halloween Horror
Oh I wasn't the maker for hotel deuce, was stating that it took me an hour to finish the game. The players won't know the in's and out's of the your project and effectively developers are speedrunning themselves.
Seconding this, there's no shame in releasing a demo. Even if it's messy, you always have a shot at the title xD

Even if you have a half-complete game now and you're thinking of bowing out, just wrap up what you have, slap a "completed" sticker on it and submit it for the event. Or throw a "to be continued" sign on it and mark it as a demo.

A Halloween Horror
If you've made a game that's 10 minutes in duration, take in account that the player may take twice as long to complete it. Took me an hour to complete Hotel Deuce which was billed as a 10-20 minute game. So don't worry if you think your game is too short, it'll probably be the opposite for everyone else! :o
What's the scariest movie you've seen in your life?
Ghostwatch managed to trick the nation back in 92, came way before the found footage craze. It hasn't aged well in some portions but the fact that it was banned from being rebroadcast on the BBC gives it an semi mythical status. The fallout was hilarious though.
One film that stood out for taking an shit on the genre was Cabin in woods. You can't watch horror anymore without making a correlation with the aforementioned film. Plus it has the best use of the Godzilla threshold on screen.
My personal quick recommendation list, most of them are not scary tbf.
