So I have something kind of terrible to confess which is that I have a really bad anxiety disorder (that's not terrible in itself) so after I posted my rant here (I'm also super-opinionated, does not pair well with crippling anxiety, would not recommend) I immediately went "ohhh shit im gonna get some hate for this" and proceeded to hide from this thread for several months. (To be fair, I mean, I also had shit to do, it's not like I was cowering in the corner of an empty room with nothing but a computer tuned to RMN and four walls.)

ANYWAY, since I am STILL too afraid to look at the first salvo of posts after my OP because I came off super-defensive and I imagine that prompted a lot of people to get very aggressive. I had a really traumatic New Year and I'm trying to sort of rest and recuperate my emotional health as best I can. What was the consensus here (if any)? If it's summed up by JosephSeraph's latest post, I'm good with that.

BUT is it okay to use sample maps if you're doing so because you're a veteran who doesn't like mapping (or is just plain burnt out on it) and prefer to focus on all the other aspects of your game, or is it never acceptable and will prevent your game from being taken seriously/played at all?

I was feeling very, very down in the dumps, like "episode of clinical depression" down in the dumps, my new year was off to a baddddd start and I certainly wasn't expecting Phantom Queen but...it really cheered me up, a lot. It had everything I like in it, badass babes, wars of succession, the power to get people wet and then electrocute them, guns, eldritch abominations, doggoes! The writing, battle mechanics, and battles were really excellent, actually everything about it was really excellent. I've only beaten it with spear & wand but you can bet I plan on trying every other combination of weapons/skills.

This is easily my favorite thing I've played that was made in MV, and it helped show me some of the things MV is capable of (that barrier script is super cool as is the lightning recoil damage one). And the boss battle that wound up being a three way fight was just an awesome concept, have never seen that before in an RM game and too seldom in commercial games either.

Anyway, thank you, this was truly a wonderful surprise and couldn't have come at a better time! You have restored a great deal of my faith in humanity, or at least the bizarre slice of meta-humanity that congregates here in our dope little clubhouse.
