The Rpgmaker Reviewer:

Review Vote Guidelines
1/1.5 - so horribile I will not mention it. No one would like this trash.
2/2.5 - bad but with some good qualities or good
but with many bad flaws. Could have been worse and some people may like it anyway.
3/3.5 - from decent to good games. This is what I normally expect: entertainment. Some people may like it more, others less but it's ok!
4/4.5 - exceeded my expectations. These are must play for everyone.
5 - Rpgmaker Nirvana

*NOTE*: event games/jam submissions and other games that were developed in a very short time or with other restrictions get a rating bonus (usually +0,5), you are warned!

Fey Review

Thank you so much for all the praise and kind words. I agree with everything and you’re right. All of the cut content and some other stuff is in the new finished version!

Great news! The first half of the game was my favourite, and I am happy that there will be a new version. Even better if the same style and engine will be used because there was a particular charm of some locations anche characters.

Thanks for the review! I agree with you on the battle system. My first plan was to make it action based, just like the original

Hey I liked the battle system. I mean, I never played FfVII:BC, so it's ok. It's a bit basic, but this is not a bad thing.

The real problem were the blurry graphics: I understand it was impossible to find decent rips but at the same time the use of the usual Rmk2003 charsets would have not been a good idea, I think. Well I do not know... anyway it's ok and surely it required quite an effort! (For some reason these charsets remember those I saw on some obscure rmk games Killer7sindrome/DaydreamCafe).

Exile's Journey is now fully playable from start to finish!!! What's next?

Nice! Looking to play this! I am ready!

Thank you very much for playing our game and taking the time to write such a thorough and kind analysis.

The funny thing is that this is one of the first Rpgmaker games I played and surely the first in spanish, as I played one of the first versions.

As you rightly remarked, the graphics are fully custom. We wanted to go for a simple and retro-looking style and design as a tribute to all those old-school JRPGs we love so much.

I liked the graphic style as it quite different from other games that use the same engine and it's also coherent.
I said that the game is easy, but I should have said that this game is for everyone as it's really simple and never frustrating at all. It reminds another parody Jrpg, the italian Tales of Banalia (sadly untranslated) for all the gag about the typical jrpg tropes. Oh and as I said the translation is really good and well done (and sometimes that's not easy thing)!

As for the clues, in the first part of the game, you can ask the king for advice if you get stuck. It's particularly useful, especially during all the bush part.

I did not know or expect that (I did not want to go back, even if you need to buy a "certain item" for that quest in the castle), anyway I was able also to find the "secret" area without the hints.

Once again, thanks for your review and rating our game with an awesome 4/5.

Well deserved! It was a shame that there were no reviews!

Thanks for the review dude.
It's old indeed. This is a more stable version from I think 2013. The original is from 2009. Far back when I started to get more familiar with the rm2k3 and it's functions. I had quite some ideas and experimented a lot these days.

It worked well I think, the gameplay was even better than Grimorum (that instead in my opinion had a better story and graphics), and it was a clever idea. Nice.

I've been thinking about translating Gods of Ashes a lot. Let's see what time brings...

Well, I must say that from what I have seen Gods of Ashes looks exceptional. The setting and the gameplay seem exactly what I've been looking for... concerning the stoyy, unfortunately I cannot say (and understand) anything! :)

Thanks for this review, man. I remember making this when I was 19. I'm 32 now and RM is way behind me, but it's good to see people are still finding some enjoyment from my old creations.

These old classic are still provide good time and are visually pleasant in my opinion. Gotta try also your other games then. Thanks for the reply!

Oh nice, you guys found the telephone booth gameover after all? That might have been one of the more obscure one imo haha

I think it was my 3rd or 4th run (first two were escape by truck/bike). I went there immediately after provoking the horde. I guess expected something weird to happen, but...no.

author=Smokingspoon
The sewer segment used to be a bit harder to get to. Initially you needed the backstore key THEN activate the Z-horde. I was afraid it would be missed out so I changed a switch/variable or 2 to make it easier to find.

Well I did exactly that: first the key and then the horde! I discovered this late because I was sure that the place was a deathtrap like the apartment. I was wrong (again!).

There's nothing else in the sewers beyond some collectibles I think. You can get an ending if you just keep going to bed every day, though it's more of a game over. Still, I'm fairly sure it's what the first symbol to the left in the endings guide represents. Either that or the phone booth ending (if you go in there during the zombie attack). I don't believe there's anything else you missed, though.

Yep I got all these. I even did the "suicide in bathroom". I expected something would happen if you killer enought zombies during a Zombapocalypse or finding something in the north east area of the sewers (there is a room with lots of zombies, some eating too, but I guess nothing more)

It's okay, the game's average is still at 4 stars so we're good ʘʘ

I was close so I agree with your rating and review. Maybe I am more forgiving with older games... anyway I just wanted a bit more, there are no other flaws.

8th run? Nice! I'm so thrilled that the game is being fully played! And yes.. there's quite a few endings players might not have found yet.

I do not know, there were some similar endings (escape alone/escape with survivors),I got both the Dog Ending and the Dandelion Ending, I guess the only area I never explored fully were the sewers but I don't know if there was something else hidden there.

Oh and I feel ashamed since I gave a lower vote than the other guy!!!

Anyway yes, one of the best short games I played. Gotta try Dandelion, then.

Thanks for your review! I'm so happy you enjoyed this.

I already said in Onyx 1 review that I like these game especially for story, characters and gameplay.
This time I add that also the guides that come with these games are really helpful.
It's a really rare occasion, and that's an added value!
