Review Vote Guidelines
1/1.5 - so horribile I will not mention it. No one would like this trash.
2/2.5 - bad but with some good qualities or good
but with many bad flaws. Could have been worse and some people may like it anyway.
3/3.5 - from decent to good games. This is what I normally expect: entertainment. Some people may like it more, others less but it's ok!
4/4.5 - exceeded my expectations. These are must play for everyone.
5 - Rpgmaker Nirvana

*NOTE*: event games/jam submissions and other games that were developed in a very short time or with other restrictions get a rating bonus (usually +0,5), you are warned!

Around me, crimson-stained leaves Review

Heya! Thanks for the reply!
It's a pretty cool game, I mean as I wrote for those who like short horror rpgmaker adventure games (I know a few of these also on this site!) this is a must play! What I liked most is the story, I mean it's short, complete, compact but all pieces fit perfectly, and I mean it's not easy to do this in a short game (sometimes there are aspects left unexplained... not here!), and not always the ending is as good as here.

Thank you so much for the amazing and detailed review Addict!!

The origins of the characters can be found in the credits, or click the spoiler
Martine - Ocean's game Cast Ashore
Hikari - Orochii's Drekirökr-Dusk of the Dragon
Jackie - Waka's original character, no game yet.
Barrel - Copyrighted character that I stole from a gacha game :)
Store owner - Benny, our favourite cat

Oh cool, yes I read that Jackie was a Waka creation but I believed it was from somewhere... I dunno she gave me a sense of deja vu!
Yeah I recognized Benny but the fun thing is that I totally missed him in the first encounter! WEIRD!

Regarding one of the impossible boulder pushing puzzle, was it perhaps the one outside the cave, on the left?
If so, solution:
interact with the chest on the ground floor, facing right to the chest.

ARGHHHH! was going to try that! Yes it's the one on the left on the south of the cave, the right was doable!

No audio on main menu? Ah, maybe I forgot about it!?
Beat the final boss to reveal the game's title, main menu and audio. Also a minigame awaits you before the reveal ;)

You mean the
REAL BOSS, not the pushover boss, right? They're steamrolling me at the moment!

author=JustAShyDoge
If you're still having issues with the boss, please try:
unlock the broken passives which are the last/hidden in each character's skill tree. I recommend mine which increases crit rate and damage Hikari's passive

Well yes... I have to grind a bit since at first I got the standard ending then I did everything to be the completionist I should be but need some more time eheh.

author=JustAShyDoge
The vendor passibility issue should be fixed in the current version(i think...) if not, don't worry as I'm about to update a new one soon that is guaranteed fixed and well...some other fixes as well ^^"

YEP! To be precise it's the empty stall on the right of the vendor and the impassable pier on the map before the village on the shore. Oh btw I played the Lobster version to avoid issues... maybe it was not necessary!

author=JustAShyDoge
Still, I'm glad to hear the public are having fun despite the game is made for Ocean! Again, thank you so much for the review and playing the game!

Well it's a very articulated game! I expected something really simpler and causal but nooooooope! I mean it can be played casual if you avoid the special bosses (the first time the statue destroyed me but with the complete party was another matter!)

Tested using old save files. You're good to go.

Weeeeell I fear that I'll have to restart the game since I think I've no more the old saves... but it's not a problem!

Tyrant's Lair Review

author=Loowiz
You made fair points, and I'm actually surprised you rated this game so high.

Well I rated it LESS than Quondam Warriors! And there were some parts I actually liked as I wrote. Also no game breaking stuff or other nasty bugs...not even mapping errors if I remember well!

author=Loowiz
I can assure you that no glitch was intentional, and the item attack increase was just me trying to balance the game, considering I failed at understanding how the defense attribute works (I believe Quondam Warriors also had 0 defense, but HP+ items).

Well there are some parodistic aspects that made me think about that! I mean the story of the protagonist isn't really serious and also some encounters are really... quirky!

author=Loowiz
But yeah, the game was just me learning from scratch how to use RPG Maker, or create games as a whole. I made it very grind-heavy, which I fortunately fixed in the next game.
Fun facts! The Death battle was actually directly inspired by the Grim Reaper boss from an old flash game, Sinjid Battle Arena. I loved the concept, and tried to use it in the game, which kinda worked. The hut in the first town is actually only accessible after defeating the last boss. Should've made it clearer, my bad.
Anyhow, I'm currently working on acquiring RPG Maker VX Ace once again, and when I do, I'm going to look into the issue in Quondam Warriors. I'll keep you updated. Thank you for another great and detailed review!

Cool! Oh, to be honest I expected that about the hut in the beginning... :D

Hello, thank you so much for playing and for providing such a detailed analysis!

Yeah! I dived into expecting a short and simple game (I mean I saw the map files from the outside and said "heh easy!")... and then BOOOM! Challenges!
Cool use of the assets too!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA unbelievable! Must-play-now!

Thank you very much for playing my game, and giving it a very detailed and thoughtful review!

I understand that there are still some bugs that need to be fixed, especially one that has hunted me for almost 10 years (a single spot in the first forest map maze, where you can clip through a wall), but unfortunately, the RPG Maker game edit file is long gone.
Hello! Well it was a nice adventure...

As for the part where you were stuck, that was my bad for not being clear on telling the player where to go (as Egoraptor said, that's conveyance), you're supposed to go back to the city and talk to a NPC, in order to get the ticket. You've completed two of the six chapters of the game, so there's still a lot of gameplay left (It takes about 5-6 hours to beat the game).

I know, the problem is, as I wrote apparently no way to go back to the village, since one exit does not work and the other leads to a woman that asks for a ticket and I found no place that sells them.

Basically when you arrive at the pyramid you are stuck there with no way to go back (the access is "one way", as the map as only one exits that leads to the woman that asks for a ticket) to the village not even to restock, so I could not buy the ticket and go on with a story, and that's a pity.

I dunno if the new download fixes this issue, otherwise the party is stuck at the pyramid.

author=Loowiz
The mana system isn't used by the characters you've unlocked so far. I'll leave it at that.

Yes, I expected this but I wasn't sure of course!

That's odd, I've replayed the game not long ago, and everything worked as intended. I'll look into it, at least now that I know that it can be fixed. I'm pretty sure you can go back to the village, but then again, I could be wrong.

Uhmmmmmm tell me if it works or I missed something... I wasn't able to progress and hey, it was really a pity!

Thanks for taking the time on a writeup, RA. I regret never going back and fixing the typos haha

Sssh, just tell them it was the deadline's fault.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee it's ok. I mean lots of dialogues, descriptions and yeah the deadline. Pretty good anyway! I liked that. I was more puzzled by some other errors like the cloning of some characters lol
