Crest Shop Revealed

I had flirted with the idea of forcing a choice on the player for which crests to "spend" and actually have them get deducted, but in the end I decided that by controlling the costs of each item, a player wouldn't unlock incredibly overpowered items too early.

Not that I'm saying the items are overpowered, but if you saved enough crests and bought them early, they would be.

It all boils down to game balance in the end. The items that a player will get an extended use out of don't cost too much (such as the Recall Scroll, which teleports you to a "home base" area in the game and only costs 20 of each Crest).

The items that give a big advantage, you're going to have to work for.

I definitely expect this aspect of the game to be a popular one, and I HIGHLY doubt anyone will find all 800 in a single play-through. Like I said, some of them are pretty creative as far as the methods to obtaining them.

Very nice!

Crest Shop Revealed

If you have 30 Onyx crests, you can buy EVERY item in the Crest shop that requires only 30 Onyx crests or less. If it requires another type of Crest, you'll need to have those collected as well. Crests are never deducted from your count.

Once you buy an item, it is "Sold Out" and can not be purchased again. Every item is an exclusive. There are roughly 40 items to be purchased.

Onto obtaining them... they are found almost everywhere, and can be obtained in dozens of ways. You can simply see some of them and pick them up, win them from certain battles, obtain them as prizes from mini-games, etc.

I've gotten creative with some of them. One crest requires you to feed berries to a bird, but as it turns out, the berries are the avian equivalent of you and I taking six shots of tequila and the bird flies into a tree, knocking the crest loose.

This is really nice to look at :D

Thank you!

This script is the result of seven non-stop hours of work by the one and only Keith Brewer. He's the man.

I'd try rounding out the edges of that "carpet" like tile... clashes with the rounded cliff edges.

Um what mistake

Pretty messy shrine, whoever lives there is a slob.

The awnings on the buildings need to be moved over a little. They are overlapping the edge of the building itself.

Just about done with Main Menu revision...

I have actually cut down on the number of items in the command menu twice now, lol. The Options menu carries most of the unlockable sub-menus now (bestiary, sound test, etc.). I should probably rename that menu to Extras.

The quick jump functionality is a fix for the menus because, honestly, I didn't have enough room to include every function in just one screen, at least without making it cluttered.

Milestones, I definitely see your point, HOWEVER, this game is going to have a ton of them (not the standard 50/1000 set-up. More like 300/5000. So running back and forth to an area to view them instead of just having it anytime, anywhere would be a pain, I think.

As far as setting HDC through status, again... no room. The character status screen have a LOT of information. I'm actually working on them right now. So that will probably be the next menu revision to show up here.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll see what I can do to refine things further!

Hrm... perhaps the Extras menu can carry the Milestones menu as a sub-menu. This way, the number of command items remains the same.
