Finishing Touch is jaw dropping. How did you even do that? Let's give the test dummy a big round of applause for living long enough for us to see all Cloud's moves. I have to agree with dasgibtesnet, Golbez is the man.


Omnislash was honestly way harder to do, in terms of visuals. It's like three different animations at 100 frames each, playing in sync to look like it's all playing at the same time lol.

And yeah, Golbez and the rest of the villain crew are actually gonna be nasty in FFD (FFBE players will know how bad most of the villain units are underpowered).

Well, you'd have to beat the game once to get any of the unlockable guest characters. :D
From what I saw so far I guess beating the game a few times over time wouldn't be a far stretch.... but alas I still have to beat blackmoon prophecy 2 before that... xD

Just cause I wanna know... will there be a new game plus option where you can keep unlocked characters? Cause I really want to play trough the game with golbez... he is my favorite FF character^^


New Game + option is what allows players to unlock guests, yes. Your first play through will consist only of the story characters.

here it's just taking forever


Doing max damage per hit, it would take only 11 hits (at least one million damage) to force Odin to start charging Shin Zantetsuken. That's "forever" to you?

I figure it goes without saying at this point, but I always end up having to say it anyway; enemy stats, much like every single other thing in this project, is still in development and can (and will) change to fit game balance. :/

Also, are there any plans for a demo or something or are you planning on releasing a full game only at this stage of development?


One demo will be released, covering the entire Burmecia and Sanubia nations (including the Gold Saucer), and then no releases until we're done. No ETA on either release yet.

It's easy enough to do, completely achieved by events within the battle.

I actually have a smoother version halfway working, but I didn't have more time to carefully test over and over to make sure it moved to the exact screen positions I needed, so I saved that scripting to a different enemy and went back to the FF5 way for the video.

But in the end, it'll probably be the smooth, FF6 "move while slightly shaking" style. Perhaps I'll leave the FF5 version of the movement for the Tonberry King. =P

It's all nice and good, but that font used in name display for dialogue is not a good choice IMO; it's a bit too futuristic and too bold I think. Something more simplistic in design would be better.


Nothing is set in stone, I will most likely end up using VAG Rounded for it, like the other windows.

Fight looks cool though! I like the shield mechanic and crisis mode. It's nice that you announce it like that to allow for more strategy, in my game some bosses will just suddenly go into pissy boss mode when you get their HP low without warning, haha.


It's the first boss battle where such mechanics are used, so I felt obligated to include a bit of a hint/tutorial. In future boss battles using similar gimmicks, the player will be on their own for the most part.
