It's actually faster than Breath of Fire II's battle system, but we've already done that anyway out of necessity with animation timing. =)

This is just a misunderstanding, the current sprite you see on the left, was a test of the style on the right, in no way will arc sprites be used. i personally love the style sprites, wich i was aiming for, not aiming to create replicas of arc sprites. The arc srite was only used as a reference. And the sprite above is not being used within the game, its only there to show the Style. They will all have custom designs based on our artwork..

I had used your sprite lena as inspiriation for a style to be used for blackfire.

im sorry for any misunderstanding caused, or for any disrespect this may have caused Lena, becuase that was deffinetly not the plan. im also sorry for not requesting permission for this either. again, im sorry for any misunderstanding.

as for the feedback on the music, thank you, i wll try to upload these to youtube at some point..

Exactly as I thought. And you don't need to ask permission to be inspired. You get that for free. Personally, I think people on the web are a little too overprotective of their work (not Lena in particular, in general, don't misunderstand).

Good work on the music by the way. I like that battle theme.

Final Fantasy Essence

If you're in need of a tester, I volunteer. FFE uses CTB if I recall correctly. I'm pretty knowledgeable with that script. Might help when testing things.

The Screenshot Topic Returns

Without the eyes THOSE STARS ARE SO RIPPED OFF FROM KIRBY OMG. All jokes aside, changing the shape of the eyes or maybe even giving the stars multiple different eye shapes would be the best "fix."

I have a question unrelated to tech--What lvls are the enemy vs the group? I watched the video and, even though my memory of BFII is lacking since I was child when I played it, I remember Katt doing more damage.

Okay, maybe it is a tech question -- How does the software calculate the damage given/received?

In the video, the default RMXP calculations are being used. We also modified enemy stats and character stats for the sake of the video (Bugbears have double their normal HP, for example). In our final version, we will convert the algorithms to match BoF2's same algorithms, and the character stat growth will be exactly the same as the original version. Thanks to Ben Siron's technical guide, we know exactly how to raise each character's stats for each level they gain.

We already have those values injected for Ryu and Bow. The rest of the characters haven't been tuned for that yet, so that's why Katt was doing minimal damage and Rand seemed to be a lot faster than he should be. =)

Lose the "wall of trees" and use the other trees you have showing in this screen to create a border.

@Zadok83: We have more precise timing options that we haven't gotten to yet. The one thing I wish the script did have was a speed setting for each individual animation. Unfortunately, there's a "one speed fits all" setting, so it may take a little while longer in testing to get to a speed that's comfortable combined with the # of frames that each actor or enemy should have.

There's a few character animations that are also slightly misaligned. I've already gone in and taken care of Katt. Rand (attacking) and Ryu (defending) need a little attention.

On the subject of the music, we're using the official tracks from the Breath of Fire Special Box. As is, they are pretty short, but if we can't find someone to do remixes of them for the game, we will extend the tracks to be longer. For now, we haven't edited them.

Yo, what's up?

I THINK it would be on the same base where they hold the boot camp training, IIRC. But don't go by me, that was a long time ago and I was only there once.

Yo, what's up?

Do they still have that giant rec center in the base in Chicago? With the circular room of TVs and video games? :D

My brother has been in the US Navy for about 12 years now. I went down to the base in Chicago for a few weeks to visit. It was pretty nice there.
