WHEELMANZERO'S PROFILE

Just a guy who loves rpg's. Thanks to some serious encouragement from several new friends and the community at large, I was able to complete one of my own. Game making is my favorite hobby, so you can expect more games on the way. Play on fellow gamers, play on!

I personally think you'll enjoy it more if you go in spoiler free. Not very many characters are fond of being used as puppets, and I imagine it would be an amusing sight to see when used on a summon. Seeing Damien puppeteering a giant squid would be absolutely priceless.

Somber Elegy: Broken Dreams

Real life comes first guys, don't overdo it.

Hey SB, good to hear from you again!

I most assuredly agree that Demora's skills are ridiculous, so she's received a big fat nerf for the next version. Nebulous Field now protects 1 character for 2 turns, instead of everyone for 1 turn. I'm impressed you almost managed to beat Athena without Demora's broken reflect spell. You must've been at a pretty decent level.

Oh, that's a glitch I hadn't heard of until now. Fortunately, there's an easy fix for it. I have a handy script that triggers a common event when a certain character dies. All I have to do is remove any puppet-based states from all combatants when Damien dies and boom! Bug zapped! Thanks for the tip off. As for your predictions, I'm going to respond to them via pm to avoid extreme, blatant, irrevocable spoilerocity.

Wheelmannn!

Last I looked this was like 5000-6000 downloads, now it's up to 7000 xD reach that 10k!

I've been trying hard to hold off on playing this again til the new version, but I might cave in and play it tomorrow. >_> owell. Will end up replaying the new one anyway. xD

Hey thanks, having that many people play my game is a little frightening to be honest. I thought only a handful would be interested, but I guess playing as a baddie is a more popular concept than I thought. By the way, Terrarium still remains my favorite rpg maker game to this day, so thanks for sharing it.

Monika's magic was an offensive projectile spell similar to Pandora's Shadow Bolt, although it's never actually shown in the game. As for Rose and Nebra's...well, you'll find out in the sequel, as they both make an appearance. Revealing them now would kind of feel like a spoiler though. Speaking of spoilers...

Yup, Zel's grandfather was the old hunter that lived in that cabin. That's the one bad thing about being evil; you usually end up killing people who don't deserve it. The citizens of Lyria village are still kicking for now, but it's only a matter of time before the miasma kills them. The reason they've managed to last this long will also be revealed in the sequel. Bah, that sounds like such a cop out, but it's true!

hey guys any chance there will be umbral souls 2 ? :D like maybe pandora and her army spread across other continent maybe. it really difficult to find like this one :(

There will be a sequel, but you'll be playing as a group of heroes opposing the acolytes, basically trying to undo everything you've done in this game. A lot of the events in this game were meant to build up the stories that will unfold in the sequel. Every monster you've trained, ally you've recruited, and character you've built up will now be trying to kill you at one point or another.

Now you may be thinking, "Aww Wheelman, playing as heroes is lame! I wanna be evil again!" Well humble player, I do agree that playing as a baddie is awesome, but I wouldn't design a game I personally didn't think was fun, so I'm going to prove that being the good guy can be just as enjoyable. How you ask? I can't tell you that you goofball, it would ruin the surprise!

What I will say however, is that from the beginning, Umbral Soul and its sequel were meant to be two halves of the same whole. Umbral Soul was designed to show you how the villains were built from the ground up, while its sequel Luminous Soul is designed to build up the heroes. I thought it would be interesting to have a game where the player was attached to characters on both sides of the conflict.

So yeah, I'm already excited to share the next installment of the story with everyone, but there's a lot of work to do first. I hope you enjoy it when it is finally done.

Thanks guys, even after all this time I still freak out when I hear people say stuff like this. Er...or rather when I read people say stuff like this. Wait no, that's not right. When I hear people read stuff like this. Gah! You know what I mean!

Hey SunBears, thanks for playing and sharing your thoughts. While the game's balancing was meant to be skewed to your advantage, I agree that there are certain skills that make it a little too easy, so I've made a few modifications for the next version. For instance, Pandora's healing spell will have both an MP and a TP cost.

Getting into the more spoilery stuff..

I thought having Pandora make a comment about not being able to win partway though her battle enough of a heads up that you were supposed to lose, but people have actually been trying and succeeding in winning that battle. I guess I'm just worse at my own game than everyone else. Ha! Anyway, I've modified that battle so that winning will change the following cutscene a bit, making sure the story lines up with the gameplay.

Yeah, I didn't really expect people to use all of the summons, I just thought having a variety of options would be nice. I wanted to feel like I had an army at my fingertips, even if I didn't use all of its soldiers. I was hoping the variety would add some replay value as well, though there's no reason not to just turn a single summon into a killing machine and use it exclusively for the entire game.

Meh, I don't care if your opinion is unpopular, I'm still interested in hearing it. I myself am not a big puzzle guy, which is why I didn't include very many in the game. I'm more of a combat guy myself. I've made the music puzzle easier by shaving off the last two notes and including the solution in a read me file, since it sounds like its been giving people trouble. I thought transit to the bandit lair could use some streamlining too, so I've added a bandit at the entrance to the canyon who will take you directly to the cave's entrance once you've beaten Talon.

Don't know if this counts as a spoiler, but I'm hiding anyway because I'm paranoid.

Pandora is eventually confronted with what she's doing and how she's just being used by Ragnarok, but it doesn't really happen until the sequel. She's begged by several people to just give up and stop, including those who have suffered the way she has. It isn't emphasized as much in this game, which is more focused on showing how she became the person she is in the sequel, but it is coming.

To answer your questions...

Yup, the mayor and his wife are Nebra's parents. I'm glad you caught that.

It's funny you mention Mira and Hilda specifically, because while all the characters will make a return, those two get a lot more screen-time and become more relevant to the plot in the sequel, particularly Hilda.

Lonnie and the woman who captured her have their own arc in the sequel, where their story is resolved.

TP is the default name rpg maker uses for the points you gather by taking damage, guarding, or using certain skills. It stands for "Technique" or "Technical" points if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts SunBears. I'm glad you had a good time and hope to hear your opinion on the sequel.

Sonic the Hedgehog in Tales of Mobius REVIVAL

author=jai2016
UPDATE:
I am reviving this game and completing it, I've been told by many sources its fine to make fangames as long I am not selling it commercially.

So starting next week, Sonic, Tales of Mobius is back in production, any feedback would be greatly appreciated if anyone plays the demo, few changes will happen in the full game though.

Thank you.
Jai2016.

Are there any other games you would recommend checking out while we wait for the reverse campaign?

Welp, believe it or not, I haven't really played a lot of rpg maker games in my time. There are a bunch of MV one's I'd like to play, but sadly my computer runs them at about 3 frames per second. I can however, give a few recommendations on some rpg maker games I have enjoyed.

Terrarium
If you're anything like me, you love building your own strategies and using them to beat the stuffing out of your enemies. Terrarium is some of the most fun I've had with an rpg maker game, as it lets you pick and choose your skills, allowing you to experiment with a wide variety of strategies. It's got an enjoyable story to boot, so I'd highly recommend this game.

The Wooden Ocean

Quite possibly the largest rpg maker game out there, The Wooden Ocean drops you into a massive open world that's extremely dark; both literally and figuratively. You can choose which elements to wield and use skill pints to learn their respective moves in order to build your characters the way you want. There is an absolutely absurd number of side quests, so you can rest assured that wherever you wander in this strange world, you'll be sure to run into something interesting and/or disturbing. It's like if Skyrim and The Dark Knight had a baby. Yeah.

Flip Dimensions

A very long time ago, when I was still young and full of life, I played a game called Flip Dimensions. It was still in its demo stage, but I remember enjoying what I played. It was completed just recently and has you play as a villain, so if you're looking for something to scratch that "I really wanna be evil again" itch, this game might just be what the doctor ordered. I'm referring to Doctor Doom of course.

Chronicles of Tsufanubra

I'd finish this one for sure if I had the time, but game mak waits for no man. I had completed the first dungeon of this game and was very impressed by what I saw. I missed out on the age of classic rpgs, but even a shmuck like me knows this game practically oozes old fashioned rpg goodness. It was featured as well, and has quite a few downloads, so I'm sure many other people enjoyed it. Perhaps you will too.

And that's all I can think of off the top of my head. I hope these suggestions end up entertaining you for a good long while, distracting you from the fact that I'm not finished. Dag-nabit, did I say that out loud?
