Gotta get that gamerscore

M.O.G. Creation

I think people can better concentrate on gam makin, if they are stressed.

I wouldn't have participated at all if less time was given.

M.O.G. Creation

It went surprisingly better than I thought it would. But then again, there were surprisingly only 4 entries too. I thought there would be at least 10 or so.

It could be the time, I only got time during the last week of the event. I had important stuff to do all the other times so I could just chip away at my submission.

Battle Next

Is there pixel movement yet?

Not yet. You'll also want collision primitives (lines, circles, etc.) do to shoots, explosions, points and melee. Once you have both of those, you can basically make any action RPG you want and all the same stats will work.

At the moment, you should flesh out and simplify your stats while waiting for pixel movement. Break the stats up into smaller stats. You can toggle which stats are visible or not. The minimum required derived stats are:

https://subversion.assembla.com/svn/rpg20xx/doc/battle-spec.txt

You can do absurd stress testing, spamming 1000s of battle calculations by cloning events that hit each other to figure out the balancing. It'll be number soup! You can do all sorts of experiments on your battle calculations.

I'm sad about the lack of fullscreen support, tho ;--------;

That's a pretty critical feature so it is coming later. I want to make sure the video system is stable before doing fullscreen modes. The old prototype RPG20XX had unstable video which was annoying (mostly DirectX's fault). OpenGL doesn't seem to really care at all when you ALT+TAB or CTRL+ALT+DEL.

Edit Project

Alright it has been updated.

Edit Project

Oh derp! I forgot to put the event start back. Hang on a sec.

I only called it "stage" because that's how the soundtrack I used was named.

Even when the site tells you its down, my upload went through anyways. Next time it happens just load a different page of RMN and then navigate back to where the download should be.

I've been having the website halt and tell me its down on almost everything I upload recently (images, etc.).

How to Play

I mentioned it almost a year ago. RPG20XX will have built in quests. Quests have stages and then a script page for each stage. Quests can be advanced to different stages. They also have text, icons, etc. that will be used for a built-in journal menu. A quest stage could be a completion stage or a failure stage.

If you take a look in the event editor dialog, there's a spot where you can have the page condition simply check for a quest stage. I found myself using global variables in RPG Maker 2003 this way, so this streamlines the ability for quests to advance and for the game world (events) to change accordingly easily.

RPG 20XX Engine

Will games made with RPG 20XX allow the developer to reroute the games controls to other buttons on the keyboard?

Yes, but the player will have this ability, not the developer. The player will configure the controls to their liking.

For complex controls (I do not recommend complex controls, but specific game types require them), I'll later add a system that lets you set aliases and defaults. You give an input a "name" and then a default binding(s). Games that re-use the same names can re-use the same player preferences. Altogether this will let players configure once and play always.

Using Ruby Wolf as an example, can we change the "okay" button to something other than "enter", open the menu with something other than the "esc" button, or cancel with something besides "backspace"?

You can also press Z for "okay", TAB for "menu", one of the letter keys also does "menu", X can "cancel".

PS: The website is very slow, but you only click submit once. It will post every time you click submit. They never fixed this bug, its been this way for years.
