Help and Opinions on Silhouette Stages
Alright, I'll be right back with another screenshot. I want to nail this thing so I can move on to the design of the stage.
By the way, here is how the backgrounds are colored. It RGB to color the backgrounds. This allows me to create any color I want via code. A value of 0 for all 3(RGB) is black. The max value is 255, so all values being at 255 is white. The backgrounds all act as layers and lay on top of one another like paper. Background 0 being the furthest and 7 being the top.
//Set the colors
bg_color0=make_color_rgb(r+200,g+200,b+200)
bg_color1=make_color_rgb(r+170,g+170,b+170)
bg_color2=make_color_rgb(r+155,g+155,b+155)
bg_color3=make_color_rgb(r+140,g+140,b+140)
bg_color4=make_color_rgb(r+125,g+125,b+125)
bg_color5=make_color_rgb(r+110,g+110,b+110)
bg_color6=make_color_rgb(r+95,g+95,b+95)
bg_color7=make_color_rgb(r+80,g+80,b+80)

Help and Opinions on Silhouette Stages
Would this version be better? The original jungle has black in it to begin with, so I changed it. Brightened up the backgrounds by 30(RGB) and altered the sky color a bit.

The top one looks fine. The bottom one would probably be hard on the eyes to some people.
Ah, I see. So I'm guessing a brighter palette would be better for the bottom one? I'm not sure if the jungle in the background should be lighter than than that either.
@turkeyDawg
I have played both of those XD. So, just leave the backgrounds as they are, or darken them a little? I'll have to experiment a little more and report back with an updated screenshot.
Thanks to both of you!
Help and Opinions on Silhouette Stages
Hello everyone. Lately, I have been working a lot with my mainstream project: Monster World Legends and came across the idea of adding silhouette stages. This concept has been done in several games before like Super Mario 3D world, the Donkey Kong Country Returns series, and Rayman Legends.
Here is what I got on the official definition.
the dark shape and outline of someone or something visible against a lighter background, especially in dim light.
synonyms: outline, contour(s), profile, form, shape, figure, shadow
"the silhouette of the dome"
Although, its nice to learn by sight, actually learning the definition is what pushed me to do this. The question is, what can I do to make the silhouette visuals better? Is there something wrong with the colors, shading, or lighting? I'd appreciate any feedback as I am new to doing this myself. There are two versions below. One is like a Game and Watch title, the other is a lighting based version.

Suggestion:RPG Song of the day
author=LibertyWait, we do!? Let me check this out. Could a link be provided for everyone to access?
Guys, we do have a music thread in Welp, iirc. Maybe give it some love?

If this ever became a thing, I'd probably do a post that looks something like this.
That actually is a good display on how to submit our music. We'll just have to see how its all going to be put together. Otherwise, I like how the name was added so we have a clear idea of what the song is.
Its a good thing because not everyone has time to play games like they used to. I've never played White Knight Chronicles and a bunch of those games on the list, but I bet if I listen to the music associated with them, I'll end up getting the actual game(s).

Lol. I know. I'm just getting a random mix of my favorites and adding them to a folder/text document just in case. If some fit the theme, I'll just draw them out of it.

Good to see others are giving us previews as well. It sounds like a credits/ending theme. I like it. Remember to keep this one tagged if the event is created.
Of course not all users will participate, but I know the list will be large and interesting. I'm already gathering mine ahead of time.

A mini event could do. With as many users as we have, maybe picking 3 and base them on a theme (so top 3 favourite battle tunes for one event would make the FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT playlist, for example).
This is actually a pretty neat idea.
Now that is a great idea! a mini event sounds perfect. I was thinking of something similar that organized the playlists by themes. Examples like explained before could be Normal Battle, Town, Credits, Boss Battle, Final Boss, World Map, Character, Dungeon/Area, Vocal, etc. It all depends on how you guys want it to be laid out.
I can imagine how big the list could get. It would be best to find the best way to spread the work as far as adding to the playlists. 3 songs sounds fair as well. It narrows it down extremely. If it becomes a reality, I look forward to seeing everyone's entries.

A youtube playlist could work pretty well for this. If, say, one or two song links were sent to the youtube duo to add to the list, we'd probably have a nice amount of songs before long.
This sounds great! If the staff decides to work on getting it done, it would be great to see it as an RMN event. Another possibility is it could be an event that is taken once a year or 6 months where everyone submits 5 or so of their top songs to put on a playlist created by all of us. That would be a good way for everyone to express what kind of RPG music they like and create a melting pot of tunes.
It could be a battle theme, town theme, you name it. However, there obviously couldn't be any duplicates either. It has to be unique to each user.
