The Light of the Shadow
Excellent demo! This game really hammers home the classic SNES feel, and I can't wait for the full completed version. The mapping was splendid, and the game play was fun. The combat actually was enjoyable, for the most part, since you had quests that made it more appealing, and the SP system made for more strategic boss fights without having to worry too much about saving your magic points.
The only thing that feels shallow at the moment is the story.
Hopefully the story makes more sense as the game continues, but as long as the game play continues to impress, I'm sure I'll be pleased regardless.

A girl gets kidnapped by some creatures, and the hero is unable to save her. So the mayor decides to send him out to rescue her, even though he doesn't appear to have any current connection with any of the people he comes across. And yet he's lent a sword by the mayor that the hero can use well enough, and may have some connection to the goddess.

Don't knock it. At least you actually finished it first before going back and touching it up. It's your pride and joy, after all. Most will simply keep trying to polish it as they go along, and never finish.
[VX Ace] Limits on Map Size?
As Travio said, 500x500 is the largest size it can go. However, for the majority of games I've seen, most maps seem to be no larger than 100x100, and that's also in few instances. Most are even smaller than that.
Can I use music from other games
Most communities have separate standards when it comes to rips versus using material from another member.
You can use rips from known non-indie games like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger, or Zelda so long as you don't take credit for it. That includes graphics and audio. That doesn't make it legal or guarantee safety from any repercussions should the rightful owners choose to come after you, just that using rips in your game is an accepted practice.
But if you take from another member of the indie world, most prominently another RM user, then you risk punishment of sorts (be it ban, suspension, etc).
So... if you must rip, don't do it to another RM user.
Frankly, outside of a fan game, I really can't see the need for stand-alone rips, especially audio. If you're not making a Final Fantasy game, there is no need to go and collect Final Fantasy audio.
I've got hundreds if not thousands of music files on my computer, all of which have come from free non-video game sources (Aaron Krogh, Atelier Nonta, Presence of Music, H/Mix, Short Story....), and they're all high quality.

Reverse Quest
And ditto to all the comments above. That was great. I bust a gut when he said:
"But we only have a handful of soldiers. And one of them's a dog."

To Delete or Not to Delete
Cancelled games may still have working demos that people want to play.
No game other than ones listed in "demo" or "completed" are guaranteed or required to have a dl. However, I do come a cross a lot of completed games that don't have dl's. I can see a case for a game marked complete, but no way to play it, having the "completed" tag removed so it's not thrown into the mix of other completed games.
With that said, I wish there was a report button for the game topic itself, rather than the post, so we can report topics that appear to have some violation or missing component, or appearing in the wrong category.

Running RM2000 games is apparently impossible for me
Lost Land: Ruin VX Episode 1
Got it. I noticed his "groggy" passive skill, but my brain didn't register it. Pretty smart, using a passive skill to create a sort of handicap. 5% might work better, or even 7%.
As for bugs, none so far. I think the original had a few, but the biggest one had to do with the variables or switches with talking to your comrades late in the game when you returned to one of the first towns. I remember being frustrated with that part, but at least it was easy enough to fix since the 2K3 version was never encrypted.
For this, you'll just probably need a couple of really good beta testers, and hopefully the bugs will be minimal.
One thing I forgot to mention, when Nei suggests she hears something and then spots the helecopters, adding a sort of buzzing BGS (if one can be found) would work well here.
Also to Clyve, I don't want to spoil anything, but the whole amnesia thing works with this game. As the description states, it's more than being hit on the head and losing your memory. He's been asleep for a long time and the world has moved on. Give it a go for about 15 minutes, and I think you'll begin to understand. At that point you'd know if it's something you want to play or not.
Either way, if this game can be remade in Ace, and January Blue can be coded in Ace, then it's a good sign of the kind of games we will hopefully see in the future.

January Blues
Interesting enough. I'm glad to see the various sci-fi games for Ace coming around. I didn't like that the screen was cut down in size even further, though. In windowed mode, it's too small. In full mode, you're presented with a rectangular view screen that's about 6 to 8 inches wide, surrounded by huge black borders.
