GIAKS'S PROFILE

A time comes in every man's life when they get shaken to the core, when the river of ambition sinks low to the earth and the very rock that man has built the foundation of his life upon crumbles. There in his tiny shattered world, amongst the rubble of his broken hopes and dreams he waits. Time loses meaning and he watches as eternity fades into oblivion...yet still he waits; for one day he knows the rain will fall.

...and when it does he is reforge, from the mud that surrounds him, from the ash that covers him, from the very spark of thought that has innovated all life...he will rise!

We can shape him, make him to what we want him to be...and in the end...we can be entertained!
RPG MAKER man...it's a ton of fun!!

[XP] How to code a 'Next Page' 'Previous Page' branching for reading images? Need to use loops or something...

Hey so I was going to make this into a full tutorial, however I lost ambition half way through. Anyway, I finished off the book/tutorial really quickly as an image. I uploaded an example of the final product to youtube. I'll post both the image and the video here. Of course you will have to modify the X-Y coordinates to make sure that your images fit on the screen appropriately, as well as probably change var 001 to some other var reference, still all in all this should work. Let me know if this is close to what you were thinking.

Arcade Heroes

I take it we're clear to use the RMN music pack resources on this project?

So, I'm done with my little game. I had to leave some things out that I would have liked to implement, but I ran out of events and I find working with pictures a bit too tedious. But for what it's worth, it vaguely resembles something enjoyable (for 8-bit standards anyway) so that will have to do. =P ...Now I'm just considering making a little logo for it, like giaks did for his games.

I tried to make GLFOS as true to an arcade experience as possible. Complete with nonsensical story intro if you stay 'idle' at the title screen long enough.

Space_Monkey - Should we try to get people to test them or should we just submit them? I'm confident my game isn't to broken, but who doesn't start to think that way after hitting the play button hundreds of times...still I'm sure it's a little bit broken, just can't get away from bugs...

Also I have good news and bad news...
Good News:
GIANT Lizardman from outer space is in the final steps of production! Once I finish up adding sound effects to the game and pixelize the graphics it'll be ready to submit.

Bad News:
Cancelling Arcade Mixer 2...it was a neat idea and someday may come to light, maybe even before Arcade Hero gets officially released. This still leads to good news though! Now I'm only using 1 map.

Arcade Heroes

If nobody opposes I would like to call dibs on variables 41-60 and switches 41-45. I will also be using 2 maps, 1-2 custom tiles, picture references 1-20(all of which will be cleared upon exiting the arcade game), and at least 2 animation slots. I'm hoping to get 2 games made, one is almost finished.

Also two of my variables will not reset when exiting the games because they are high score counters.

My proposed games are:

GIANT Lizardman from Outer Space: a classically simple arcade platformer
60-70% finished, it is after all just a 'mini game' and not a full on game project.

and

ARCADE MIXER 2: a game where you mix and serve drinks.

*please note that I haven't started the pixel conversions for the title screens, by the time they are done they should look much more 8-bit.

Name: Gurges Bellator (Aquamancer) Female

*the lighting effect from the spell looks odd against a plain white background, I designed this while using a battle background and didn't notice how much the lighting stands out until now.

About:

Homolluscans are a deep water dwelling race of humanoids. Using the four massive tentacles protruding from their backs they can glide through water at a remarkably brisk pace. Almost entirely aquatic homolluscans can survive for only a short time once outside sea water. An extremely intelligent and magical race, the homolluscan Aquamancers can bend the very will of the depths allowing them to cause devastating damage to enemies as well as aid their allies. A lifetime of training has made the homolluscan Bellator a fierce and deadly foe, they often craft weapons and armor from whale bone, and are trained to use their tentacles to both punish their enemies and protect themselves. Rarely traveling alone, small groups of homolluscans can occasionally be found alone coastal regions and islands. More often found in deep, open waters where they generally travel in schools of several hundred. Surrounding a ship and swimming around it in a series of complex rotations they are able to create a whirlpool. Once the ship has sunk they pillage it and move on, leaving any survivors to float or be swallowed by the depths. Sailors will often refer to them as Gurges Bellators meaning whirlpool warriors.

Side Notes:

I made this battler sprite using heavily modified components of default RPG Maker VX Ace RTP battlers. I had hoped maintain a RTP-coherent look while giving a unique presentation. I have uploaded the .xcf file to my locker, so if you want to see what battlers I used or even modify the color of her skin, hair, tentacles, eyes, or clothes feel free to download the .xcf file and play around with the different layers. You will probably need Gimp to open/edit the .xcf file. Links listed below...
