How to add fun to grinding?
Wow nice read and given me lots to think about.
But I will leave my one thought on grinding.
Apart from action games like Phantasy star portable I hate grinding as the only reward it offers is higher levels and you always know how many fights it will take to level up by checking the characters stats. And with most games higher levels only mean higher stats which seems hardly worth it.
In Final Fantasy Legend 2 I loved grinding(If I had mutants in my party) because you never know what ability they would learn or when they would learn it.
The end of every battle was like opening a treasure chest(I could almost hear the treasure chest music from zelda :P )
For me the battle system in FFL2 was almost like a world to explore itself.
Ever try giving a human a mana potion? gives him the mana stat and he can cast spells(only books, he never gained abilities) and then even starts leveling up in mana.
The battle system having so much stuff and not having everything explained meant that I had to explore all the options on my own and that made grinding fun.
Just my thought on grinding on a menu based/turn based battle system

Game Length: Is it possible to make your game too long?
I dont actually have time to read all the comments so this might have already been covered.
I don't think a game can be to long as long as it stays interesting.
Once you can't think of new and interesting things to throw at the player its time to bring the game to an end.

Been working on a game for years, haven't given up.

Where can I play that game?
If that was directed at me, you can't.
Which is the point of my post :P

Yep I know that feeling.
Ive been working on Darkened Worlds for 7 years now.
I stop to do other shorter projects and when I get back to it I often end up jumping engine, redoing all the graphics because of new stuff Ive learnt and basicly starting from scratch.
Heres one of the first versions
And here is one of the latest versions
As you can see the game has made massive changes in graphical style :P

still a work in progress. I need to fix up the player profile pic and add in the sword icon(top left empty box)
Little bit of coding and a few of the item descriptions left to do.

Are You An “Item Hoarder?”
I've not read ALL the comments so sorry if I go over the same points again.
Yes I hoard Items, and items you can buy in shops I save up my cash and buy 99 of each
I think a good workaround for hording is like people have already said to limit how much each character can carry(weight is the best option)
Also a system I like is to limit how much shopkeepers sell(I believe Baldurs gate 2 worked this way) so you cannot buy unlimited amounts of potions.
I guess the main idea with this is balance, limit the items found, limit the items that can be bought, limit the items carried.
And test the crap out of the system so you know if its to much/to little
EDIT:Craze has an awesome answer

Has anyone figured out how to doa Tactics game in RPG Maker?
author=RyaReisender
The world really needs more SRPGs.
I particularly would like to see much more games that play like Shining Force with RPG gameplay in between the battles (exploring towns, finding hidden passage and treasures)
That's something that disappointed me so much about FFTactics advance(the first tactical rpg I ever played) I really felt it needed exploration and walking around town talking to people
Experience and Leveling Up
I recently played Ys the ark of Napishtim and in that everytime you level up you get less experience from monsters until they are only giving 1 exp
It meant that I would get to a new area and I would grind for 10 mins and then grinding would become ineffective and I would have to proceed further into the game and find new areas with tougher monsters.
