All in all going well(but slow :P )

Those screenshots look amazing Blindmind
Ive changed to a flatshaded look. Its means I have less surfaces as Im only using vertex colors and not using any textures at all.

nemojbatkastle that game looks awesomely retro. brings back memories of the FFLegend series on Gameboy. although the character on the right ruins it as he doesn't fit the rest of the style
Ive been working on adding in different tree types to my procedural world. it keeps throwing up errors though. I think I have my vertex counts wrong for the different surfaces. All my code is getting so messy I think Im gunna have to do a near total rewrite and clean it all up in order to fix my errors and make future additions easier to manage

Looks pretty neat grindalf.so what is it for..?
Thanks. It will be a procedurally generated 3rd person rpg. Im thinking of not having building in the normal minecraft sense as I really don't want to make a minecraft clone. This will be more like Cube World than anything else.
Everything in the game is procedurally generated, including textures.

I have grass and trees working now as well. Next is other biomes. Desert, snow. then I might try and deal with cities and villages ect

Been adding trees into my voxel world today.
Ive actually started with static 3D tree models but Im thinking of changing them to voxels as well. A bit more testing is in order
I also added basic shadows. It basically just checks the few tiles above a voxel and if theres a block it colors it darker. I will have to add directionality in as well at some point

Textures are procedural(I didn't draw that brick texture my program did and it will look different every time you start a new game)
Blocks can be placed and deleted. but that's something that I don't want to be so easy as in minecraft as I don't want to make another minecraft clone.
At the moment I can only place blocks with the brick texture

Well I can't possibly object that it looks like minecraft, but the question is...
Is it Java-based?
If not, congratulations, you've done what Notch should have from day one.
Also I gotta applaud you if you are going for generated terrain. Because that stuff is either costly, time consuming or both, at least if you're trying to make it generate anything interesting.
No its not java. its Blitz3D so probably not much better as its direct x dependent and windows only.
Yes procedurally generated terrain and all assets(these are procedural textures, that's why they look a little naff)
I intend on only supplying music with it. the rest of the game will be completely procedurally generated.
I will be putting more time into the procedural textures but for the time being Im focusing on terrain.
BTW nice, is that a game about cats? I can get behind that
