Old/Lost RpgMaker Games - SegNin's Rare/Obscure RM Games Request Topic
Just piping up to say Final Fantasy 0 got way past just a trailer. It's a tour de force in terms of programming, but was not much fun to play. Might have been better had I know French. Feel a bit sorry for the guy who clearly put so much work into it.
[RM2K3] Stat buff rules
When you say "I use a formula" do you mean that is your best guess approximation for how the damage in calculated in rm2k3, or that you are writing something custom?
If you're talking the basic calculation, it is as follows, where A is attacker and B is defender:
Formula for skills:
damage = base + atkA * (atkInf / 20) + intA * (intInf / 40) - defB * (atkInf / 40) - intB * (intInf/ 80)
If the "Ignore Defense" is checked, the following formula is used:
damage = base + atkA * (atkInf / 20) + intA * (intInf / 40)
For each point of variance, damage fluctuation will be ±5% more, up to a total of ±50%.

Older RPG Maker 2000/2003 games?
I was so certain that #2 was Starlancer Six but I played the opening again and there was no snow, no leaves, and no Japanese music. There was an anime girl though....
Do you know more about #3? There aren't too many horror games around, so a bit more info may help direct us. First to my mind were Backstage or Grave Spirit but I don't think either did that snow effect.
EDIT: Oh my, and I just noticed I necro'd this pretty bad. I didn't realize the 2nd page was this old! Sorry about that.

[RM2K3] Weird 'turn deletion' bug
This is a very annoying bug that occurs whenever the animation of a character changes when another animation attempts to play. Below are my copy/pasted notes on the topic. If you are using events, the only way to avoid the issue is to use an event which triggers after the animation, such as "Variable Change" or "Party Exhaustion." I've never personally experienced it using the default 3-frame condition animations with normal skills in battle, so I am a bit curious if something else is going on it your system.
Old Notes:
Animations in the DBS can be interrupted by the following:
Equipment Changing
Condition Changing
When an animation is interrupted, the action following the animation is also interrupted. This means that animations can cancel attacks, spells, and whatever else the character is trying to do.
This interruption can occur when done in the Turns or Active BC. I think it can occur in all commands, but it only cancels actions in those two.
My assumption as to why Equipment Changing and Condition Changing cancels animations when nothing else does is because those are the only two things which actually change the character animations (technically class changes do as well, but those are glitchy when done in battle and I think it only actually changes the idle animation, not the attack, etc. animations).
Commands which do not mess up the DBS or cancel animation:
Battle Commands
Base Stats
System Graphics
Show Animation
Wait
Key Input Proc
Message Box
Branch/Labels

[RM2K3] Stat buff rules
I'm surprised no one has answered this.
The stat maximum after counting equipment is 1500. I don't remember what happens if you try to exceed 1500.
If you're trying to get larger damage totals, an easy trick is to change all the elements to be larger (so instead of 100% damage, make it 400%). That way you can stay within the normally visible 999 stat barrier and still take advantage of the 99,999 monster health pools.

Bullet hell with an RPG engine – Mission Impossible?
How does this game only have 34 downloads???
Also, I like the use of the map for game data rather than map data. Clever.

Thanks for the update, anyway. What you've done is quite impressive. Good luck on your game!

Neophyte's Map Entry
I couldn't find the image you gave for the "Decayed Forest" to match at all the actual map you provided for download. Did you upload the right map? (The map you uploaded uses a different chipset than the image and lacks that large crashed ship.)
If you did upload the right map, I have some insight. This was part of a map contest, the 2nd (by my count) at Gaming World. It March 2007 (based upon the date modified dates of the zips, probably March 3, 2007 to be precise). I am not sure if I downloaded all of the map entries of the time (like a fool, because they were all really good), but I have entries from the following individuals:
Alex Of Cawdor
Blindman
Cyruss
Gondu
JPC
King of Games
Neophyte (the map you linked above)
RockmanNeo
There were a number of contests around that time, including two themed map contests in 2007 (Forest and Cave) and one in 2005 (Town). The largest contest, or at least the one from which I saved the most maps, was the 2nd with Neophyte.
Reverence
This has all the strappings of an apparent contest entry. But I don't know where it would fall. It feels like a map entry, but I don't have it from 2005 and it would be weird for there have to been two town based mapping contests back to back (2005, 2006). Here is the list of all the contests I could find in my old files:
2005 Mar - Code-off #1
2005 Mar? - DBS Contest #1 (origination of Wilfred the Hero)
2005 Mar - Mapping Contest #1
2005 Dec - DBS Contest #2
2005 Dec - Short Story Contest (I saved zero entries from this)
2005 Dec - Code-off #2 (origination of Balmung Chronicle, I believe)
2006 May - Short RPG Contest (origination of The Burning Grail)
2006 Jun - Horror Game Contest (origination of Backstage)
2006 Jun - CBS Contest #1
2006 Jul - Code-off #3 (origination of Migai Shinoyu)
2007 Mar - Code-off #4
2007 Mar - Mapping Contest #2
2007 Jul - CBS Contest #2
2007 Sep - GW Tournament #1
2007 Nov - Mapping Contest #3
2008 Feb - GW Tournament #2
2008 Apr - $450 Contest
2008 Oct - Nackster Month Contest #1
2008 Dec - Nackster Month Contest #2
2011 Nov - Boss Battle
I am sure there were more, but those are the ones for which I have a record.
