KITTEN2021'S PROFILE

Returning from RMVX Death

It has been a very long time since I have been on this website or hosted any games on it. Last message I left was sometime back in 2011, so obviously I have been on a lengthy hiatus. I apologize, but I am aiming to begin fresh and new with nothing tying me down or back due to what I previously had so all my previous games have been deleted from the site.

I will leave nothing on this website, except for very small things - updates every great once in a blue moon, etc. - and make no promises to anyone.

Please refer to the game titled Eriscadia for any further information.

Variables - Usefull or not-so-much?

OK, I'm making a small tester in a quick little game; can someone play it to see if I'm understanding these right? I should have it set and ready today...

The lamps in the park area are a little off to me... One is smack dab up against the walkway while the other one is a tile below the spot where it should be. Just me though... Other than that tiny little detail, looks nice.
BTW, the tree's at the bottom of the picture are cool, but the tree's surrounding the area look a little odd to me. Again, could just be me, but they don't seem to match.

Variables - Usefull or not-so-much?

EDIT: FAIL! OK, I forgot to mention, I'm using VX...

OK, so I will be the first one to come out of the closet and openly admit what a whole boat load of other RMN-ers are afraid to admit:

Variables are scary.

There, I said it, now can we move along? Are Variables really something that should be considered a basic necessity of any game developers? If so, then why??? Maybe it's just because I don't really understand them (and yes, I've been reading the tutorials), or maybe its just because I don't really see what they can honestly do in a game.

Can someone show me a game where Variables were heavily used? This might be a good way for someone to truly understand... Maybe someone can explain some basics that I 'could' see them used for - such as, lets say, a boss battle or a Battle Tutorial < now THAT one, I could understand.

But, how would you even do these sort of variables? I understand the basics, =Set the Variable, +Add or -Subtract from the Variables; this is great and all, but how do you really implement them in an event (and I'm not talking about adding them, I clearly understand that part)? What are the real pro's to these frightening little things and what are their limitations in the RPG Maker world?

This is nice.

Just one problem... You have your shadows going all over the place.
If the sun is facing east, then shadows on the eastern side of the wall should not have shadows going west. Same thing for everything else with the shadows...

Only issue I saw. I like this a lot! :3

I like this area a lot (with the exception of the modern stuff, but Zakku answered that already anyways); my only suggestion would be to move the table away from the wall a little, this would help fill up the emptiness problem right there at the entrance.

What are you currently reading?

I am currently at this moment, studying the Lord of the Rings, I am a huge Tolkien fan, (but I missed the festival! :(:( ) and trying to build an RPG on it.
PLEEEEEEASE tell me when you go to make this game! Have been and always will be a huge LOTR trilogy fan; have read all the books (including the Silmarillion). And don't feel too bad, I never get to the festivals; I want to so bad. If you do one day, post pics of it...

As for me, just DL'ed a boat-load of Ted Dekker books, going to start with either The Priests Graveyard or the BoneMans Daughters. Both of which are creepy books, but still good ~ ^.^

Title music

Interesting topic, calunio; I was just browsing through my songs looking for a song that would quickly and immediately begin to explain my games depth.

A song should always be worth the players time, imo; I know there use to be a thread on here where the games were played for like 10 - 15 minutes and then would be scored off of that (think its been locked now.. :/ ) and the one thing that was done at the beginning of each game play/review was listen to the title screens music. The song should grab the player immediately imo, but its just so hard to do that sometimes... :/

[RMVX] Looking for a few artists

Bumping... ^.^
