Returning from RMVX Death

It has been a very long time since I have been on this website or hosted any games on it. Last message I left was sometime back in 2011, so obviously I have been on a lengthy hiatus. I apologize, but I am aiming to begin fresh and new with nothing tying me down or back due to what I previously had so all my previous games have been deleted from the site.

I will leave nothing on this website, except for very small things - updates every great once in a blue moon, etc. - and make no promises to anyone.

Please refer to the game titled Eriscadia for any further information.

[VX] "Deleting Encrypted Archive" Error

Awesome! Thanks a lot, GRS; I've sent up my request for the small game to be accepted now due to your help.

Thanks a lot!
(Hope you get the chance to play it, btw; if you do, I'd love to hear feedback on my first official miniature game and first "completed" game.)

[VX] "Deleting Encrypted Archive" Error

Deleting the RGSS2A file fixed the entire problem... I forgot, I was trying to create a game file last night and my *unplugged* laptop ran out of power right at the end of creating the game disk file. I think that's what caused the problem...

Thank you so much for saving my game (and nerves, lol), GRS! <3

BTW, I tried searching the site for the tutorial that tells you how to me a game disk that prevents anyone from being able to steal your files used with the game, but I couldn't find it; is it done by telling it to encrypt the file when you create the game disk file?

[VX] "Deleting Encrypted Archive" Error

Someone please tell me they know how save my game before the blasted RPG Maker VX deletes it! I'm having a panic attack just thinking about it...

Here is an image of what the error states exactly (which I get only when I click on the Game.rvproj file to open the game in the engine):

Please help... I'm real concerned this is going to wipe out my entire game.

EDIT:
Also, I found this in my games folder:

I created a brand new game and went and looked in my other games' folder for that ".rgss2a" file and none of them had it. It is an archived file that I have no clue where it came from... Any help and advice appreciated! :)

[VX] Audio No Longer Functioning

No, I checked that; even rebooted my machine and nothing fixed it.
Odd thing is, it didn't start until just 6/25/2011; my sounds/music had been working just fine until then. I haven't installed any new updates to the engine either to cause a compatibility issue or anything.

Variables - Usefull or not-so-much?

OK, I've played with the variables thing a lot; made a 20 minute game using nothing but those... Wow... I understand fully now why everyone says variables are better to be used.

Thanks for the information and tips guys, I don't think I fear Variables any more! :D

(BTW, I'll be posting my 20 minute game "A Variable World" here in a while, finalizing some stuff with it - ignore the title, it was meant as a joke, until I named the town that. lol)

Looking for a door

You didn't mention what engine your using, btw...

This comes with VX, if that's what your using, this works rather well. Of course, if you have pretty much any graphics program, you could always goof around with it and edit it to match what you really want:

This is a rather bad example for you, but you get what I mean... Its easy to do if you have a good imagination. :3

Or you could just Google or Bing for an RPG Maker charset or RPG Maker Door Charset; I'm sure something would come up. :)

Parallax vs Tile-sets

(Ignoring all previous posts...)
Look, I've tried it both ways, DE hit it pretty much on the head:

author=DE
you have to have the whole game planned out from the start or there will be lots of panorama redrawing and, as a result, more vaporware.

Unless you have everything pretty much planned out for the area your making and the way your game is going to flow with it all, "panorama" mapping is a very difficult thing to do. Its a preference per person though; some know exactly what their doing with it:

Shameless promotion for Nessi and the others. <3 that game!

Others, just can't get it down, so they don't and instead go with VX... So,its kind of an individual choice really. Personally, I hate it. Working with VX by itself and making your own chipset's to work with it in my opinion is harder than throwing them down on a blank image and just plopping everything else down along with it willy-nilly. The only real panorama games that I would say deserve to have panoramas in them are for those where the game's maker(s) actually make all the images themselves.

EDIT:
Sorry, kind of got carried away with that didn't I? Oh well... You get my main point.

[VX] Audio No Longer Functioning

OK, just imported a brand new MP3 to see what the difference would be; I'm getting audio from it but still not from the midi's.

[VX] Audio No Longer Functioning

OK, I have imported some MIDI's to my game the appropriate way, ad they worked. However, I got into the maker today after having them in there for two days (and working both days) to find that all audio - including the midi's - no longer working in my RPG Maker. Does anyone know what would cause this?

BTW, I get audio with everything else on my machine, so its not my computer causing this issue...
