Using RM2k Font Patch on RM2k3
author=Swack link=topic=899.msg12039#msg12039 date=1208245564
Ok, so I downloaded the Japanese text support IME, and it STILL hasn't been fixed..... Then I remembered something that hadn't occurred to me to mention: My comp has TWO hard disk drives instead of one. I'm betting that's why this is happening; the Windows programs are in the regular one while my RM2K3 is in the OTHER one. Should I copy-and-paste everything into the other drive?
Hahah holy crap man I feel bad for you because this sounds like it has been a giant pain in the ass. Anyway this is how it works:
There are two fonts called MS Mincho and MS something else that RM2k3 uses. They are part of Japanese text support because they are the English characters used as special characters in Japanese fonts. So to get the text to display properly you need to have those fonts which are part of Japanese text support.
I really have no clue why this fix isn't working for you and I guess you can just try to install your stuff on the other hard drive but otherwise tough luck man.
GamingW.net hosting game making contest, 450$ of prizes available!
This is just not the right time of my life for this so shucks. Maybe in three weeks :(
Anyway I am responding by personally hosting a contest where I will pay $500 in prizes and you cannot enter both mine and the one hosted by GW YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE also the rules are the exact opposite of the GW contest's.
Ciel just out of curiosity where did this money come from? I seem to recall GW's owners being extremely poor.

News Flash with Kermit the Frog [7 Reasons the 21st Century is Making You Miserable]
PRESIDENT BUSH ADMITS TO APPROVING OF TORTURE AS AN INTERROGATION TECHNIQUE.
source (ABC News): http://abcnews.go.com/TheLaw/LawPolitics/story?id=4635175&page=1
In response to the question of whether or not he knew about torture, he replied: "I'm aware our national security team met on this issue. And I approved." Techniques approved included simulated drowning (note that simulated drowning is one of the most traumatic experiences a human being can experience).
This pisses me off. The evidence shows again and again that torture is not a reliable method of getting information. Tortured people often lie or make up stories just to make the pain stop. According to a former US torturer debating in the Intelligence Squared series, an interrogator will torture between 10 and 20 people for every one person that gives reliable and solid information. Rotten terrorists who tell kids to strap bombs to their chests deserve to be tortured, but the problem is that we cannot always reliable tell the difference between a rotten terrorist who has good information and an innocent bystander who does not have any information.
Regardless of how important protecting your nation is, it's paramount that in the pursuit of justice that innocent people do not suffer. If a protector has to harm innocent people for any reason, their methods are probably unacceptable. There a myriad techniques other than torture that are not only more effective in getting good information but are significantly more humane -- eliminating the chances of accidentally torturing an innocent person to death.

On the contrary, part of selling a game is addressing all such categories- making it well rounded. Graphics are part of the game, after all. Now, I agree, game play is much much more important, however psychologically, first impressions will greatly bias a person's opinion. There's nothing that can be done about this, and considering graphics are more often than not, the first impression a person gets of a game, if a game has poor graphics it's assumed to be a poorly made game (or at least, with poor production values).
Talking about production values in RPG Maker when comparing the RTP to plagiarized tiles from 15-year old games is really ridiculous.

stuff
Well in my opinion everything you've just described and detailed explains why the RM community is extremely insular and totally backwards. So maybe we will have to agree to disagree.

WIP loves Firefox and hates IE. I don't do any of the site coding, so I have no control over the compatibility between browsers. I agree with this in general, but have to say that this is a small, private, free site and optimization for multiple browsers is a nice-to-have, not a necessity.
We really only have the resources to make the site truly work in one browser, and that browser is Firefox.
Besides, TONS of professional and corporate sites support ONLY IE. (Fuck you Futureshop!) I hate that. But if they can choose to support only one browser, so can we.
I haven't used IE 7.0 yet. Our work even has prohibited us from upgrading to 7 (from 6) because of compatibility issues. Which is okay because we all use FF anyway.
I agree that FF is a better browser by the way and I'm not blaming you for anything. And I do think its ridiculous that a big site won't support the second most popular browser (firefox). Since WIP makes this site out of the goodness of his heart it's hard to criticize him, but I really do think IE should be a priority and Firefox shouldn't be as important.
That said, I am pretty sure the it's a lot easier to make a site like this work in Firefox as compared to IE whose issues tend to be more random and pain-in-the-ass in nature.

I found your problem. Use a good browser like Firefox, or Opera.
Well websites should be designed for the most common browser, which is IE. Telling someone their technical issues are caused by using the most popular browser is pretty elitist and not very helpful. It also does not address a problem that many other people might have.
Maybe someone should tell WIP to look at this?
