For everyone who wanted to try RMVX, to see what you thought, here you go.

Enterbrain has released a limited feature trial edition in Japanese. It has quite a few limitations, but it will give you a general jist of the mechanics.
You can't make a gamedisk, there is a limited number of items/armors/etc in the database, you can only have 10 events per map, and only 10 maps. There is only a small sample of the RTP, and games can't be saved or opened. Also, scripts are unedittable but are viewable.

Aveyond II is coming out tomorrow

Aveyond II is already out, and I haven't played the first one, because I refuse to sink $15 into a game that looks like any other RMXP game, and probably plays like them, too. It doesn't even use custom graphics!
I'm not charging for my work, even though I *did* take a bit of a loss, from the backup CDs, a scanner, and a 3D model program (which I didn't end up using). I think it was about $150 all together, which would be ten downloads at the rate listed above- barely worth it (Honestly, I doubt ten people would pay $15 for a Dragon Kingdoms game).
I'd hate to think making Aveyond I was *THAT* expensive, I thought I read somewhere that it cost $1,000 or so, and its already had thousands of downloads, so... that's just corporate greediness.
There was an RPG Maker XP game called Dreams: Essence of Life that had much higher production values, and he planned to make it free.
Diegoale2000 is selling Dreams: Essences of Life. I've done numerous coding projects for it, over the last two years, and helped him develop the combat engine and character development. His game, should it ever be finished, would be worth paying for.
Final Fantasy IV (DS)
FF4 is among the top games in RPG history, in my opinion. The storyline is deep, interesting, and filled with emotional dialogue and content. The gameplay is top notch, battles are very balanced, and the dungeons are great.
This game looks to be of no detriment to that which is the original FF4. Does anyone know if it has any Stylus interaction, or a stupid Mognet thing like FF3DS?

The program was made not only for hobbiest, so despite the common usage over the years, it by no means odd to see a commercial project turn up and be successful (within reason) once a legitimate and legal copy of the software becomes available.

If you are willing to sink money into a game, you deserve to make some money back. Aveyond was an average game, by RPG Maker standards, but considering the majority of RPG Maker Games are incomplete, it was a game worth paying for.

They were sandboxing scripts in February, and went through beta in less than a month.
I'm biased against the game since Amanda kinda fucked me out of working for it, but for all its worth despite that, I don't think it'll be much better than Aveyond I.

The resolution is only slightly lower, the reasoning behind it is a mystery but instead of maps being 20x15 tiles, they will be 17x13, and an odd number of tiles actually works better so I am all for it.
Also, the RTP is of no-consequence since the RMXP RTP can be converted pretty easily. But in all honestly, I think it looks great, and so do lots of other people.
RMVX does nothing -worse- than RMXP, and many things better. It is worth the $100. A game made in RMVX that is identical to a game made in RMXP will be -better-.
