I've been an active member for quite a few years now. I started my RMN career by releasing the Eden Legacy Trilogy of games (each entry took 4 months of nonstop work) within one year, and I've gradually shifted to creating other games as well. I now have 3 flagship series: Eden Legacy, Fragile Hearts, and Mafiosi (being remade for commercial release as Crime Opera). I'm pretty much solely focused on the Crime Opera series of visual novels right now, as my band and job currently take up most of my free time.

Going on double dates with your girlfriend and friends, not having to worry about prom, and generally having something do to and someone to do it with is better than sittin' at home jackin' off.
This is why high school relationships are worthless.
I don't know what to say about this topic though.
In highschool, my database of slow loading lesbian porn beat out sex with ugly 14 year old fat chicks that gave it away on the first date every time. Unfortunately, you had to be cool to get with the better looking broads, and no one who spends their time making RPGs falls into that category.

As for 'scaring people away'... If people really are so worried about it, they probably will make a better home of rmvx.net or rmrk or whatever other website that is viewed as being nice because they have some kind shitty moderation staff that suppresses the opinions of others wholesale.
You can't post anything on RMRK without a mod talking down to you or giving retarded instructions or telling you to re-read the rules or... well, they're class A forum nazis. It's an absolute joke. I've had similar problems with one particular mod on RPGRev, but the rest aren't so bad. Yep, RMN is definitely the best rm community for free speech.
I will say this though, all of the recent drama here really has seemed to scare a few people off. I left the forums for a while just til things cooled off a bit. I think they have. I just don't want to ever see a repeat of the nastiness I saw over the Legendary Legend feature. Some of the comments underneath those reviews were nothing more than personal attacks against the creator, and that segued into "we shouldn't let noobs be members anymore because this is the shit that gets featured".

I'm not sure how long he's going to make it though. He was originally planning for a 10 chapter novella but it's looking like it'll be longer now. I think he's almost done the 9th chapter now, so he'll probably be able to give a good estimate soon.
