Damned good review. You could have stood to highlight the better aspects of the game a bit more, but after all the 5/5 endless praise of the other reviews, I can see why you didn't.

3.5 is a great score for any game on here and I'm still excited to play this when I have the time (despite my dislike of the original, which just lacked coherence overall).

I think this is a very fair score, and you really do a fine job pointing out the game's major flaws. I personally feel that the game started out pretty strong in terms of dungeon design, and then faded back into lazy maze-like caverns found in the first game. I think that perhaps this was because I lost interest in the ugly prisonworld of Valhalla, and yearned to be done with it (also the reason there was no final boss lol). I could list a bunch of excuses, like end of term for my masters program, wanting to make my 4 month development deadline, or whatever... but mainly I just ran out of steam a bit. Nevertheless, I will be sure to apply your issues to making a better version when I release the trilogy collection.

Overall, I agree with everything in this review, which leads me to believe that the most critical issues are the most obvious ones. It should make improving it much easier on me, especially looking at the main points you listed ( I definitely need to address the story issues, as sometimes minimalist dialogue can ruin ideas for a coherent plot lol).

I try to do stuff with the blog function on my game page. I have been pretty busy and I haven't been able to do much lately, but I take the blog function of it pretty seriously and I like to make sure every entry is worth everyone's time. I try to encourage others to do the same, but even so I keep seeing more of the same "BLOG: EATING A SANDWICH" type shit and nothing really compelling, yeah? And that's assuming they blog at all.

I can't MAKE anyone blog or blog well, but you guys want to help me brainstorm some kind of event to get people excited about their userpages and start great blogging?

It's kind of ironic that TFT said this considering how many of us are reading the rainbow blogs lately. I find them to be very worth the time to read, even if I disagree with what is said. Lots of comments too.

What a coincidence, I just started replaying the Phantasia games last night in preparation for this.
