I've been an active member for quite a few years now. I started my RMN career by releasing the Eden Legacy Trilogy of games (each entry took 4 months of nonstop work) within one year, and I've gradually shifted to creating other games as well. I now have 3 flagship series: Eden Legacy, Fragile Hearts, and Mafiosi (being remade for commercial release as Crime Opera). I'm pretty much solely focused on the Crime Opera series of visual novels right now, as my band and job currently take up most of my free time.

My projects never die. The worst they suffer is going on hiatus. Once I make a deadline (and I eventually always do) it's pretty much set in stone. I'll be able to set one for this in the next couple months.

Sorry to all the followers that I haven't been updating, but I'm onto the last leg of work on Fragile Hearts 2 and I want to finish it off so I can give this game my full attention.
Worry not though, a few maps have been made since the last update, so it's never hit a complete halt. A good portion of the game is actually done, and I got some amazing feedback from my beta helpers on the day 1 demo. Updates are coming, I promise!

Save file carryovers for RM games
Haha, it was definitely planned out before the game but I made crazy changes to it. All new armour and weaponry, new graphics implemented, music, everything was overhauled. I don't want players who jump right into the sequel without playing the first to be at a major disadvantage in terms of equipment, and of course I wanted the new characters' abilities to be different than characters from the first game, so I had to do all new skills as well. Luckily, the old characters have new slots in the database, so I think I have avoided Sai's suggested problem. And I only have 3 switches controlling the major route changes (when turned on, you get the three alternate paths instead of the 3 common routes).
I think it's one thing if you're dealing with a game that is episodic in nature, but another thing entirely if you're dealing with all-out sequels. They should be approached in similar but different ways, with sequels having more of a standalone feel to each one.

Basically: save files will remember the map id, so make a map with the same id that activates your new game's bonuses and tells the player that they imported correctly.
Yeah, I've pretty much done that, but without the message to say they've imported correctly. I made saves for all the different possible routes available in case players run into complications, but at this point I'm really hoping there won't be any lol. Positive thoughts :P

This is good news, for now, but I'm already worrying about the next U.S. election. Obama's still got a platter of Bush's shit to sort out before the economically uneducated will be satisfied with his performance, and if he isn't successful, the Republican party has a good chance of taking the next one.
Why is that worse than now? Because after this loss, I believe the Republicans are going to think "Romney wasn't Conservative enough, and we need someone more in line with the Republican principles", thus the next candidate could be even worse than Bush. When that happens, we're all fucked. Like, the whole world.
