SBESTER'S PROFILE

I've been an active member for quite a few years now. I started my RMN career by releasing the Eden Legacy Trilogy of games (each entry took 4 months of nonstop work) within one year, and I've gradually shifted to creating other games as well. I now have 3 flagship series: Eden Legacy, Fragile Hearts, and Mafiosi (being remade for commercial release as Crime Opera). I'm pretty much solely focused on the Crime Opera series of visual novels right now, as my band and job currently take up most of my free time.

Currently working on
-Crime Opera Trilogy (Mafiosi 1, 2, & 3 edited, with all original resources)
-It's a secret...
Crime Opera II: The Floo...
The kids have grown up, and they're becoming quite dangerous.

Save file carryovers for RM games

Vacant Sky was pretty impressive that way, what with the character deaths and everything. I totally get what you mean with the hard-to-track bugs as I had only a few differing paths but entirely differing missions and areas where they do exist. Beta testing is going to be hell lol.

I didn't even know Legion Saga did that! I guess it's time I gave it another whirl. I've also been meaning to check out Liberty's Let's Plays of them. And I had totally forgotten about Laxius Power, but it wasn't really done all that well imo.

Save file carryovers for RM games

As some people here may know, I'm allowing save file carryovers from one of my games to its sequel (ala the Mass Effect series). This got me wondering how many other RM games have done this over the years, and in what ways they've been implemented. Are there multiple routes? Character stat carryovers? Simple inventory carryovers? Other ways I've yet to think of?

I know there are some episodic type RM games that have done this before, the one that comes to mind being The Way series(which is pretty excellent imo). I was hoping you guys could give me a list of games that you know of that have done it, and in what ways they've implemented the feature. I'm looking for new ideas for my third game and would love to try some of these out.

Thanks ahead of time!

Super RMN Bros. Review

Holy shit! I didn't realize there were so many levels in this!

What areas of RPG making really hinder your project?

Putting monsters/enemies that launch you into a battle on a map has always been the most tedious and boring thing for me. Even though it can be a relatively quick ting to do,I always save it for last when making a game because it absolutely kills my motivation to work on it otherwise. To this day, I still don't understand why I find it so awful when there are plenty of other things that could be considered more tedious, I just do. Same goes for item/chest/treasure placement.

Congrats all!

Oh yeah. THIS game.

I remember hearing about Konae Detective Agency, but what is Oracle of Askigaga?

What game would you want to see a direct sequel to?

I want a Dark Cloud 3 darn it.
These, along with Shadow Hearts 4, Golden Sun 4, and Medievil 3(Because I love ol' dead Dan..also Skyrim stole the joke from his experience, except for him it was an arrow to the eye.)

I'd love a Shadow Hearts 4, but Aruze Software is gone, so the chances are very slim :(

Star Wars Episode VII (as well as VIII and IX!)

I always thought it was only a matter of time before we'd see another trilogy. Hell, 20 years from now I'll bet there is a fourth trilogy too.

The upside to me is no more George Lucas. Dude's lost his friggin' mind.

RM2k3 and Windows 8

2k3 games look awful in fullscreen anyway. Just go smallscreen. Dunno what to do about the VXAce problem though, that could be bad.

The end of RM2k/RM2k3?

VX is still an ugly piece of shit and most (pretty much all) the games on it look the same.

I'm actually liking some of what I've been seeing in ACE though, and not having limited tilesets is a good deal maker. I never minded XP, and would like to do at least a couple full projects in it someday.

As for 2k3, as much as I still love it, I am kinda getting sick of it. I don't feel ridiculously limited by it, I'm just kinda wanting something new now. As soon as I'm finished with the rest of my announced projects, that'll be the end of that era for me. I doubt I'll be forced out of it before then.
