I am CashmereCat now.

Twisted baubles replace my brain and I am toxic yet nice. There's a lot to me, but also not a lot going on up there, they say. PM me because I love attention, I do interviews, I do reviews, I do stuff. Here for the long haul. Gotta hustle.
I'm working on whatever I'm working on, and I love RPG Maker games that aren't traditional RPGs. Puzzlers, interactive stories, but nothing too abstract that'll weird me out. Just give me a polished gem and I'll stare at it for days, marveling at the way the light reflects just right, inner inflections, potato top pie.
I want to make games with you.

Your guys' art is always so fricking awesome.
Happy Birthday Review
I'm probably about to review this title soon, but I don't think this game should get -1 whole point for replayability. That's not really the point of the game, because the story is told in such a linear fashion that it does not warrant repeat visits. However, I do agree with the review, just not how the score is rated. Good job.
Experience and Leveling Up
author=kentona
1. That is not something specific to RPGs
2. No. I explored dungeons in platformers and Zelda, to name two.
3. Have you played fighting games? or any other kind of games?
4. RPGs can strongly focus on immersion. Any game can.
5. Have you played, say, a strategy game? Real-time or turnbased, either or.
Yah, but you could say that certain RPGs do these things exceptionally well or better than other genres. Perhaps Rya likes the way they are handled in such games more than others. For instance, the nostalgic soundtrack of Final Fantasy makes him want to cream his little pants, but you can find that in Katamari, right? But Katamari doesn't *also* have dungeon exploration, but that can be found in Zelda, too? But he likes the way the Final Fantasy deals with immersion better than the action-oriented Zelda, but that can be found in the Walking Dead series, right? But the Walking Dead series doesn't have skill-free button mashing and combos, which Final Fantasy does well, but Tekken does it better, right? Tekken doesn't employ strategic thinking, however, and Final Fantasy does that (a little bit).
I think the point I'm trying to make is that Rya was trying to point out RPG genre's strongpoints rather than "RPGS HAVE MUSIC AND NO OTHER MEDIUM DOES", because of course other mediums have music and dungeons and skills and strategy, these are common to games as a whole, not just video games. There is a certain way that a lot of RPGs handle these elements in common, however, that elevates it beyond the norm, such that an RPG feel can be achieved without having to balance skill and stat at all, by just experiencing the nature of an RPG's story, music, exploration, immersion and strategy in and of itself.
Nominating Commercial Games for Misaos
author=Sailerius
Because commercial games are bound to have a much larger budget. If you allow commercial games, then they're going to blow away the noncommercial games and ruin the spirit of the award.
I think you're assuming that commercial games are automatically better than noncommercial ones. ;) But I fully understand, it's just a bit of a shame that's all, for a game which I thought deserved the Demo and Non-RPG categories for its pure innovation. You'll always have a Misao in my heart, YANTH <3
Nominating Commercial Games for Misaos
Seriously though have you played You Are Not The Hero it's one of the most promising demos I've seen this year and the only other one I can think of is BoutallesOnline which I don't think deserves it :O
edit: oh wait there's always Blood Shard but still.

Nominating Commercial Games for Misaos
But it's unfair, it's easily one of the best demos released this year, if not the best. And it wasn't commercial when it was released. Why aren't commercial games allowed Misaos again?
edit: if it helps, the demo isn't being sold so it technically should qualify for the category. :I

Finstermen Review
Sounds like a pretty cool spin-off game. The graphical style looks cute as a button. If it does seem to lacking depth of gameplay, I think players would like to see some innovative open-world gameplay chucked in there too, like, maybe, uh...

Nominating Commercial Games for Misaos
Why can't I nominate You Are Not The Hero for most promising demo just because it is recently going commercial?
