I am CashmereCat now.

Twisted baubles replace my brain and I am toxic yet nice. There's a lot to me, but also not a lot going on up there, they say. PM me because I love attention, I do interviews, I do reviews, I do stuff. Here for the long haul. Gotta hustle.
I'm working on whatever I'm working on, and I love RPG Maker games that aren't traditional RPGs. Puzzlers, interactive stories, but nothing too abstract that'll weird me out. Just give me a polished gem and I'll stare at it for days, marveling at the way the light reflects just right, inner inflections, potato top pie.
I want to make games with you.

gamingmitchell, your layout is quite nice like kentona said, but ease up on the rocks. they just clutter everything up. especially since they're in perfect 32x32 tiles, it just looks weird, like tilevomit. try being more purposeful and aesthetic with your decorations!
here's how i'd do a portion of your map:

Three tile rule.

I think Enelysion should be considered for a feature. It's finally completed after 2.5 years of work and many have been following its development.

I have seen pure black in a great many games, so I don't know what you're talking about when you say you're not allowed to use it as a colour. Maybe you are right if talking in the general sense of pixel art where a lot of dithering is used, but the style that Pizza uses eliminates dithering altogether, instead using pure flood fills and two tones for shadows.
It actually looks pretty cute.

Also um I assume these jail cells are supposed to be using laser beams as bars, because otherwise they should not be purple, they should have doors, and the upper right room should just have the door open instead of the entire wall disappearing into thin air.
I think they're curtains? In either case, there is too much contrast between the purple and the gray behind it. Make the purple lighter in my opinion, or vary the colours a bit; do a bit of dithering. IDK, it just seems like 2 colours, but you need more shades of those colours.
Wallpaper looks nice though, as well as the beds.
Edit: Those rooms are a bit empty. You should fill them with stuff. Word.
Balancing Life, Playing Games and Making Games
If you find that you don't have enough time for you yourself to do everything, for example creating custom graphics, systems, storyline, eventing, and everything, it might be because you don't!
Here a couple of possible solutions:
Here a couple of possible solutions:
- Ask people to help you. This can be majorly useful, since working in teams mean you can use everyone's strengths!
- Reduce the scale of your game. Sometimes people simply do not have enough time to implement an MMO-style RPG with tons of crafting systems, elemental battling, skill customization and relationship systems as well as quest givers... maybe it won't even be a fun game anyway with all of that. Try stripping it down and you may be surprised.
- Save up money to take some time off work or quit altogether to work full-time on your game. As long as you work hard during this time otherwise it may be for nothing!
- Forget about your social life. Literally, if you want to become a super-duper developer, this is what you might have to do, at least for a short while (make that a few years/decades). Put your social life on hold for a little while (not completely, just mostly), and you'll be surprised what you can churn out. To insure ultimate productivity, Victor Hugo (who wrote Hunchback of Notre Dame) put himself under house arrest. He locked up his clothes and outfitted himself in a long gray shawl. If he couldn't get dressed, then he couldn't go out. It was an effective solution. In this unusual costume, Hugo raced toward, and ultimately met, his deadline.
- Realize that making games will still probably take a long time. It may take months, years before your game comes out, depending on how big you plan it to be. But you have to be OK with that, why? Because you love making games. Because you can't see yourself *not* making games. That's where the truth lies, and if that's not you, then maybe game-making isn't for you.

@Itaju: Nice house you got there. I like the shading, but somehow, the colors feel a bit... dunno, drab to me.
I really disagree. The palette is comforting, and really well done. The house looks beautiful.
The only thing that's bugging me is the roof of the very highest storey. The wooden panels are straight two-colours, and it doesn't fit in with the rest of the style. For example, the wooden roof on the storey below is more like what I would imagine it should look like.
