THATBENNYGUY'S PROFILE

I am CashmereCat now.

Twisted baubles replace my brain and I am toxic yet nice. There's a lot to me, but also not a lot going on up there, they say. PM me because I love attention, I do interviews, I do reviews, I do stuff. Here for the long haul. Gotta hustle.

I'm working on whatever I'm working on, and I love RPG Maker games that aren't traditional RPGs. Puzzlers, interactive stories, but nothing too abstract that'll weird me out. Just give me a polished gem and I'll stare at it for days, marveling at the way the light reflects just right, inner inflections, potato top pie.

I want to make games with you.

Hospital rooms don't have couches, dining tables, cabinets or lockers. If they had room for that stuff they would use it to put more beds in the room. It's not a hotel.

You're being way too pedantic, dude. Games are about suspension of disbelief, and I'd suspend disbelief to make sure that there's enough room for interesting things to be in a scene that an important event happens in. Here are examples of hospital rooms with plenty of space and luxuries, and I didn't even have to look far down the Google Images list: here here here here and here. I mean, they aren't quite as luxurious as Detective's maps, but movies/games tend to glamorize things in general. People aren't interested in the drab, they're interested in glamour generally, especially JRPGs.

Immersion vs. Game Mechanics

author=alterego
What Ico is, is one of the most overrated games of all time. Yeah, I get it, it was an "experiment" on minimalistic design and whatnot. But as a game it was very disappointing. It was easy, short, frustrating - having to drag around a retarded AI is one of the worse things a game can do to you... Fancy graphics and music are not enough to make a game enjoyable. That's just as shallow as a game lacking those elements to provide context. Thankfully, Shadow of the Colossus was a more well-rounded experience. =P

Oh, I see what you mean. It's overrated by critics, though, you could say it was underrated by players because it performed so poorly in sales, at least initially. I really liked it, though, because maybe I'm looking for something different in games. For me, if you can do an adventure game without combat involved, you've done a very skilful thing.

There are monitors placed throughout the island that control the world around you. So yes, it's supposed to be mysterious. I was thinking of making a plug in the cliff wall, but that would be just too obvious. I might just make a few wires travel along the cliff face and then disappear behind it.

Does Anybody have a black and white mansion tileset?

Can't you just get a mansion tileset and put black-and-white on it? What feel are you going for: retro? Futuristic? Victorian? Transylvania?

Be speceefic.

how does that computer get electricity!

Good point, I should create, like, a wire going somewhere. It's supposed to be mysterious, but you're right, that'll push the suspension of disbelief too far.

Let's work on your game descriptions!

@Trihan I don't think you're touching on the right things about this description to improve. If he improves these things, then his description will probably still be rejected.

The thing is, I just think it's too short and non-descript. What's the backstory? Who are the characters? What are the plot points? What's the style/gameplay and what is some further details to pad out your game? I'd go for something along the lines of this:

<This game was made for the 2-Week VX Ace Lite Cook-off>

Didn't do much. I've suddenly began to lack motivation to do things towards my project.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've jumped the initial hurdle, but there's the large, looming "you've got the feel of the game, but you must plan the whole thing before you start developing otherwise you're gonna have to redo the whole game" obstacle right in front of my nose right now.

Oh well, here comes the hugely daunting planning of my game. Hope I don't do anything wrong :(

Movie Discussion

The Kill Bill pair was epic. First film was bloody and action-packed, exposing Tarantino's penchant for old-school Hong Kong-inspired action and Western sensibilities, and the second half introduced character development and an epic showdown between a lady and his enemy, Bill. (I just realised, I almost outted a spoiler for someone.)
