That contains most of the battlers he's done so far. (I think 4 or 5 are missing from it). I'd post them individually but there are over 200 of them. He also takes requests, so signing up for that site is worth it for that.

Background Stories for NPCs

Part of my reason for wanting to give every character a name and backstory is to try to help the player to emotionally connect to whats happening in the game. While not every NPCs story would be given, I think if I make up a little blurb about who they are for my own use, it would help make their reactions to things that happen more believable. And if the player feels like they can connect to the NPCs, when things happen to the NPCs (say they are massacred), each unique personality would be missed. But as people have said, the main focus is to avoid redundancy and develop their dialogue.

Background Stories for NPCs

So as I've been slowly plugging along the main plot of my game, I've debated back and forth on how detailed I should get with the NPCs. I feel that the credibility of the story and their personalities will be affected by stories that the player may never even know about. It may be unimportant, but I feel like at the very least every NPC should at least be given a name. So I was just wondering what everyone else thinks about this. How detailed do you get with minor NPCs and do you feel that more detail can enhance the game or just be too much information to deal with (even if that information is never made available through gameplay).

These are the Battlers I'm using for my game, Thalzon does great work and even takes requests. My final boss sprite is being done by him, I honestly couldn't recommend anyone better.

For some reason this makes me think of the "Ghosts Walk" from the book Bleak House.

Diet!

I have pancreatitis so I'm on a pretty strict diet.
did u drink a lot?

Nope, born with it, it's just gotten progressively worse as I've gotten older. I'm just doing everything I can to avoid going on the enzymes because once you do that, you're pretty much saying goodbye to your pancreas.

i'm not his mother, i'm his partner. he's the dominant one. i find it depressing when women won't act in the way that comes natural to them - nurturing, feminine.

Would feel uncomfortable letting Bobby Flay cook if he was in your kitchen? I'm all for women being women, but I do most of the cooking in our house, I enjoy it, it's relaxing to me. Even if I can't eat the food I enjoy cooking. It's an artform.

So, you play MMO's?

I used to play SWMud a lot when I was younger. I normally hate text based games, but that game was pretty well made.
Hell yes, MUDs can rock on occasion. SWMud is a good one.

Who were you on SWMud? I was Dalaran.

Your memories of the early days of the internet

We used to have a modem for our Commodore 64 that you could get on like 3 direct dial sites from. After that AOL and Netscape pretty much were the internet. I personally miss the old AOL, it actually had a lot of cool stuff on it for a middle school kid.

Just finished shading one of Castor's sprites, check it out under current projects and let me know what you think of it. All credit goes to CastorOnline for the sprite base and animation.
