Latest Patch: 1.69. If you have an earlier version, please download the latest patch as soon as possible.

The download has been updated to version 1.69. It includes all fixes up to this point. There is no need to re-download if you have patched in the fixes separately.

You know that game many aspiring devs create? The one starring their friends, often times based on a chat room, or some forums, or a MMO... or perhaps a fangame that barely resembles its source material. The one that gets maybe a half hour of gameplay finished and is completely unintelligible to anyone except that group of friends. Yeah, that one. Now, what if someone actually saw that project all the way through, and attempted to actually make it a fun, accessible, and playable game that was faithful to its source material?

Enter Legend of Balance. This game originally started out as a fun little project for friends, starring characters from Final Fantasy XIV. Over time, and with a ton of effort, it changed into a complete game of its own. It still stars our characters, and there are still a few injokes, but the plot has been set up as such that any Final Fantasy fan can get into the game and enjoy it as a light hearted Final Fantasy romp. Players of FFXIV will find quite a bit to enjoy as well. The story of the game takes place inbetween the end of FFXIV 1.0 and the start of A Realm Reborn(if you haven't played FFXIV, this part probably doesn't matter, and the game can be standalone).

The game revolves around a group of heroes, champions of the realm of Eorzea. In the midst of an intense battle to decide the fate of Eorzea, the heroes are transported away before facing certain death at the hands of Bahamut. Finding themselves separated in a brand new world, the heroes begin a journey to reunite and find a way home. However what starts off as a simple quest quickly unfolds into a classic journey of crystals, great evil, and steadfast allies. Before this adventure ends, they will discover the truth behind this strange new world, and uncover the binds that tie it to their own home and beyond.

-30 to 40 hours of gameplay, including a multitude of sidequests.

-Enjoy a faithfully recreated Final Fantasy battle system. Everything is as you remember it from the classics!

-Utilize classic abilities, including commands such as Jump, Runic, Blitz, Mime, Throw, Mix, Blue Magic, Dualcast, and much more, along with new commands and abilities based on other games in the series, such as Draw Out from Tactics.

-Equip Magicites to gain access to powerful summons and customize your stat growth.

-A huge cast of unique playable characters, including several hidden ones.

-Find and use faithfully recreated equipment. Favorites like the Ultima Weapon, Illumina, Brave Blade/Chicken Knife, Offering, and much, much more is all here to find and use to become unstoppable!

-Dozens of sidequests ensure there's plenty to do, with no need for excess grinding.

-Face off against familiar foes and brand new ones, including a nostalgia filled bonus dungeon for those who complete the main story.

-Facing a foe that your current party can't handle? Switch party members anytime, even in the middle of a fight!

-Buy rare and unique items at the Auction House, and battle in the Colosseum!

-Take part in minigames, including fishing and an arcade-style airship shooter.

-Customizable Battle Speed, Battle Mode, and Difficulty will get you the experience you want, be it tough as nails or a more relaxed game.

Playing the game at higher resolution

Hey all! I just wanted to post a link to an upscaler that will let you play pretty much any rpgmaker game at a much higher resolution.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/magpie.mirror/

Download this and follow the instructions, open Magpie, then the game, then press alt+F11. I'd suggest using either the Anime4k or CRT upscalers for LoB. This will let you play the game in fullscreen and it will look really nice!

Yep, Adamant gear is a huge increase! I pretty much put it in there to be sure people would be able to take on the bonus bosses if they were having any trouble. Sounds like you'll be doing great now, might even need to set it back to hard to give the bosses a fighting chance!
Yeah would seem Like it. Still feels good to be overpowered once in awhile you know? xD

I gotta admit though. You've made yourselves on hell of a game. I nominated it for all the categories that would fit this title. Even game of the year. My review is pending, but I did give it a high score.

Once I'm done with these bosses. I'm going to make a character on Excalibur, and come hang out with you guys. xD
Well I hope Rydia invites you to the linkshell, since I'm not in the free company <_< I think most of the characters in the game are actually in the linkshell so you can talk with all of us haha.
That sounds like a whole new level of awesome.

I think I'm just going to transfer my main character. I hope Excalibur is ready for Eorzea's finest Piradin!
My friends, all right?

I liked it a lot!

Now shut up the other game is in progress, I go all the way in the Legend of Balance!

Big hug.
Haha, well I doubt we're game of the year, there's lots of other great, far more original games on this site, but I really appreciate the nominations, and definitely look forward to reading your full review. =)

As for transferring, you are of course more than welcome, I just hope the game didn't give the wrong impression of us or the people behind the characters, haha. We're mostly pretty laid back in game and sometimes it's pretty quiet! That said expansion is in a couple of days so I am sure things will perk up.

Feel free to PM me your character name and such.

EDIT: @JoeFatherBR wow that's a good amount of playtime! I am glad you like the confirmation, I think it will help a lot with saving over files by mistake. Glad to hear you're gonna be going through the game more now, I hope you have fun! =)

The moogle appears Mailman Many of the Chavo series, baggy equal! :)

I'm struggling to deliver the "match" it! :)

Hugs!
@JoeFatherBR
Sorry if I'm not 100% understanding correctly, but are you having problems finding the NPCs in the moogle mail quest? If you need I can probably come up with a list of where they are, though it will probably be somewhat cryptic since it is talking about specific locations in town. Glad you are still playing :D
Okay. I'm having a bit of a difficult time with the Enemy "Pop" Spam Mash button mini-game. I keep seeing a button pop up and it turns red sometimes but I have no clue WHICH button to even press to even win. Is it an auditory clue? If so, I'm out of luck here, since I can't hear. ;)

Please help? (I'm doing it right after my main cluster of people get split into three groups. I selected three Tarufells and Level 99's group first, and they ended up in Emerald.

Have you patched the game recently? I seem to recall we had to fix an issue with that, it was showing the wrong button. But barring that, just mash Enter on the keyboard, I do know that it works. Sorry for the trouble with it, and nothing in the game relies on audio cues, so don't worry there. =)
Ah, thanks. (I'm sorta embarrassed, I thought I had to press a certain key, but I kept mashing the Z key anyway, and still won that mini game.) Thanks though :)

I also updated to 1.54 just tonight. Onward with the game ;).
@Ashiee: this difficulty is very interesting, do not worry. I just did a comparison between the moogle and loose postman of Chavo series, in Brazil known as Chaves. Actually I love puzzles, if it were too easy would not funny.
Oh, and forgive me for very bad English that I use because I have not mastered that language. Do the translation to interact with you.

Big hug!

This game is so good that i can't stop playing. hahahahahahaha
Only left one character to recruit.
I'm glad to hear you're liking the game so much! The FAQ section says where to get that last character if you are having trouble. =)
Latest patch updated to 1.55.

-Fixed an issue where beating the game a second time with a cleared file would cause bugs.
-Fixed an issue where a petrified graphic for Toad was missing.
-Fixed an issue where Rune Blade was usable as an item.

Just as a heads up, the Heavensward expansion for FFXIV goes live tonight. Because of that, responses to questions and bugs might take a little longer for a bit, as everyone on this project does still play FFXIV. That said, I will definitely still do my best to answer every question and fix every bug, so don't worry. =)
Thanks for the constant patches, Rydia. I hope you and the rest of the gang will have fun with Heavensward. ;)
Zero sleep, half way through the story of heavensward yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh~
I hate asking for help, but I just received Sundi's key after defeating him in the tower. I may have scrolled through the text too fast but i'm really lost and I can't figure out where to go next. May I have a hint, please?
gotta go to a specific room on the castle. Try the roof

Thank you for the quick response! I've been stuck on this for a couple of days!
