AVEE'S PROFILE

I started to design games at age 5, drawing maps and sprites with felt pens and paper. Then I began writing stories and game scenarios. I've been working with Rpg Maker 2000 and 2003 mostly, as soon as they came out.
I favor RPGs, Action RPGs and Fighting games. My favorite styles are Fantasy, Horror and anything dark or gothic. I also appreciate cute and funny content.
I make a lot of pixel art and some digital art (concept, promo, fanart, etc.)
I also compose 8-bit music.
Don't be shy and send me a message if you want to commission my work ;)

Between two BABYMETAL overdoses I discovered this new Japanese band called DOLL$BOXX
(formed by the musicians of Gacharic Spin and the singer of LightBringer, talented musicians).

Removed from Hiatus and Improving the Engine.
Hmm... I've never been a fan of sliding after the arrow key is released. It makes precise positioning and landing harder and may lead to frustrating falls that aren't completely the player's fault. So I'm not sure if that change would be a good addition to the game...
But I like how some of the Castlevania games create an illusion of weight and balance without the sliding: They add a couple of animation frames that show the character breaking abruptly. It could be an alternative to consider.
Upgrades sound good.
Keep up the great work! :D

Seeking Composer!
Are you looking for a specific music genre or style? Like fantasy themes, ambient, fully orchestrated, chiptunes, etc. ?
[Concept Feedback] Monster-based RPG
A) Powering up by eating the same types of meat is a good idea. Otherwise that particular meat becomes useless when dropped again and that might become annoying when the player has to fight the same enemy several times.
Maybe have each piece of extra meat add "Meat Type XP" and grant a specific stat bonus when enough XP has been accumulated. For instance, the Insect type monster LV 1's meat grants 1 XP, the LV 2 Insect grants 2 XP, and so on.
So not only does spare meat have another use beyond transformation but stronger monsters' meat also grant more XP.
B) I'd opt for storing meat as items to avoid the potential frustration you mentioned. Not all players are inclined to abuse a game's system, so I think it's best to have a few players be too strong than potentially having a lot of players be frustrated.
But I would limit the number of meat you can carry. Three, five or nine pieces per meat type for instance... or maybe 9 pieces of any meat. It depends how much leeway you want to allow the players.
In that case you should probably also allow the selling or throwing away of meat. Otherwise having to hold to unwanted meat would force the players to eat them in order to make room for new meat.

New RPG Engine characters/tilesets.
No-RM Event
Well, I was a little apprehensive at first but I must say that Renpy is indeed very easy to get into.
The wiki page helped me a LOT more than the ingame tutorial: http://www.renpy.org/doc/html/quickstart.html
It only takes a few minutes to understand the basics on how to implement and show images, music and text using the wiki.
It felt quite encouraging to see my first scene up and running so soon.
So I just want to say that if anyone is hesitant or discouraged about trying a new engine or fears to be overwhelmed by this event, give Renpy a try :)

I gave the following engines a quick try:
-Renpy
-Zelda Classic
-OHRRPGCE
-Stencyl
Renpy definitely seems to be the easiest to work with for a beginner. The others didn't seem as user-friendly.
And TyranoBuilder sounds interesting. It's affordable and seems to be really easy to use like eventing in any RM. No scripting knowledge required.
I guess I'll start looking for background and character images and will make a short visual novel for the event.

What a good opportunity to try new engines!
