Due to situations beyond his control, Ben has more idle time than he should have! "Hands" are the devil's playground and as such Ben is often drawing or diddling around in RPG-maker VX Ace to give his life a semblance of actual meaning.
A social introvert, Ben is NOT a social butterfly! However, he still desires to create forms of expression which incite genuine emotions, raucous laughter, and occasional deep thoughts. (Though often enough he misses that mark and ends up offending everyone instead!)

You should know how ludicrous the claims that videogames cause violence are. So why extend that to every social ill that people can come up with? Like it or not, in the grand scheme of things there's a place for everything* and some games will remain "just games" forever. We can't afford to give up certain subjects just because someone somewhere may be dumb enough to act on them... If that were the standard, none of us would be here.
Rather than blame content creators over a simple correlation, we should demand laws be more effective and punish actual criminals.

I agree with this 100%. You don't have to love my work. But it does have the right to exist. For the record,my game has a positive message beneath the dark grimy floorboards.
As such,I'd feel terrible if someone misinterpreted that message and hurt themselves or someone else because my game triggered them at that moment. However, should I be held accountable for what they did with their own two hands?
John Lennon was supposedly killed by a man who enjoyed reading The Catcher in the rye but I don't think the author of that book should go to jail for it. (This coming from someone who grew up adoring Lennon.)

I'm deeply offended! Vampire space hookers are an oppressed minority you insensitive wankers! They didn't choose Ron Jeremy's "long gift" willingly! Er,actually...maybe they did. Suddenly my resolve and perception of the universe have been shaken to their very cores! Too much brilliance to analyze. Brain freeze imminent!

We're not late night TV, we're supposed to keep things relatively kid-friendly. And I think that's a reasonable, even laudable effort.
The "12 year olds" comment was kind of a jab at the comment YOU made before me. I don't know how you could miss that... xD
Anyway, I'm not interested in getting your art banned, or getting anyone involved on this; Not even the big-wigs, because quite frankly, they're not the most reliable bunch. But if a few fellow members approaching you with a honest concern aren't enough to make you reconsider a little, then, Welp! More power to you, I guess... And if your art misrepresents your game, then even more the reason to do something about it. If I were you I'd just edit the racy bits out. It would lake like five minutes tops. ;P
Edit: That's a nice video, but what does it have to do with anything I said...?
Honestly it wasn't so much directed at you as some of the more aggressive posters. I posted it later and forgot this conversation we were having was below a picture and not with the rest of the comments/commentators on the main page.
I actually apologize for that. Aka, I'm sure it must have seen as if it was directed at you personally and it was not. (And I'm writing this with no smarmy sarcasm attached!)
Regardless, I'm torn on the "kid friendly" issue. On one hand, I see your point clearly but on the other hand, I've seen more gratuitous fan service in teen rated games. (Taki's nipples & cameltoe in Soul Calibur 2-4,the female fighters in Dead Or Alive, and Fran the fetishistic bunny gurl from Final Fantasy 12 all come to mind.) By "kid friendly" do you mean the site caters to "the very young"? I'm left to contemplate if 8-10 year olds can play & appreciate rpgs which tend to be a more mature and sophisticated genre in the first place. (Most mainstream rpgs are rated T for teen or M for mature)
If your ruling also applied to extreme gore and violence it would be fair enough for me to consider editing my art. But so long as it only applies to "fan-service" I'd argue it's still insincere and based more on personal hang-ups than being for the betterment of everyone.
I'm not trying to dodge a bullet but I am wondering where censorship should begin and freedom of expression should end. Should it be applied to the games here too? I'm sure not every game showcased at RMN has "E for everyone" standing.

Eagles, I want you to know your maturity took a mean jab when you said my female protagonists were promoted as sluts.
Do tell me, what makes them “sluts”??
1. They’re dressed provocatively in a revealing manner.
2. Something in the pictures implies they like sex.
So, if a female dresses revealingly and “likes sex” she’s a slut? (And the way you use the word, I'm hypothesizing the negative connotation of "slut" is what you are insinuating here.) I’m glad my female characters are not real because if they were you’d be guilty of slut shaming. Feminists and PC types frown on that you know. Heck, even I find it kind of "distasteful" but not so much I'm going to cry and lose sleep.
Point being? you haven't played the rpg so you can't really know the characters beyond their looks. I find "appearance" isn't always an accurate "window into the soul" in the first place. Reserved looking girls can actually be very passionate and outgoing looking girls often have their legs shut more firmly than a bear trap. No matter what you believe, there are exceptions to the rule.
I know I broke my oath to not to reply again but I found your wording of the situation to be worthy of some sort of alternative viewpoint.

BrokenH, I've added your game to my play list. It's unlikely it´ll be able to play it before the end 2013, but when I do, expect some feedback either in the form of comments or a full-fledged review. And no, I won't let the drama that has ensued the last few days affect my judgment.
I appreciate the fair sentiments, edchuy. Also, don't worry about time. People have busy schedules so even if the review is a few months from now I will not blow a gasket. lol. The fact your willing to be objective is really all I could ask for.

Thank you for the feedback. I’m sorry the content does not comply with your personal tastes. Hopefully I can address these issues in future products. In the mean time, my associate will talk to you now!

I don't know, one has to admit that these drawings are rather 'imaginative'. I can give a pass to the weird anatomy because it's obvious you're not at a good skill-level yet. I can even go as far as not mind the partial nudity because, hey, 12 year olds like what 12 year olds like, right? ...But really, the defined nipples and genitals should go. That goes beyond "fan-service" and delves dangerously upon being porn, and I'm pretty sure is against the site's standing on the subject. (Or at least it should be)
*I think there's a place for everything, but I don't think RMN should be that place. I'd hate to see this site turn into another DeviantArt. I'd like to think everyone here is more responsible than to indulge into their weird fetishes, and not because of any "social impact" our art may have, but because is scraping-the-bottom-of-the-barrel cheap to resort to this kind of thing.
I'm sorry you feel like nipples and camel toe constitute as outright pornography. By your definition there are a lot of movies, books, and games out there that need a new ESRB rating. After all, Game Of Thrones and True Blood tend to be more racy than anything I've put up here.
I also never understood the argument of "sexy art" being for 12 year olds. Even "men" are aroused by sexual imagery and females in sexy clothes. Last time I checked, that was basic biology 101. And no,that doesn't mean I spend my days wolf whistling at random female pedestrians whilst plotting who I'll kidnap next to try out my BDSM dungeon. (I know you don't believe that. I'm just being cheeky!)
My problem is normally when I do not like something I don't say anything at all. If a videogame, album,or piece of art doesn't appeal to my sensibilities I don't buy it or bother to comment on it. You could say that's my way of peacefully avoiding conflict and putting my money towards things I do actually enjoy. It's a simple concept so I'm sure you can grasp it.
If you want to talk to enough 'active rollers" in this community I'm confident you can get my art banned. Granted, I've seen more controversial material from certain contributors (I remember Mr. Big T's older works but I imagine he doesn't showcase them here anymore in fear of the same backlash. A shame too. Those projects were fun satire and wickedly creative.) and you're censoring what can be found in most MMORPGs and fighting games anyway. (So those supposed 12 year olds you speak of will merely go somewhere else to be amused) But if it makes you sleep good at night who am I to argue?
Lastly I agree, this isn't deviant art. As such, why are most of the judgements leveled at me focused on my old concept art instead of my actual game?
