Static Events [2K3]
Well, if a picture would work (as you said at the beginning), this would definitely work too for you. If you need collision checking for all tiles occupied by the big event (instead of only the middle bottom one), we might also find a solution with the new system, since we could create empty events somewhere on the map and then have them automatically moved to the right position.

You may also try going to the country settings in the control panel and changing the default language for Non-Unicode programs to German (at the very right tab I think).

In a few days I probably be able to provide you something like a CharExpand patch for RM2k3, using the DynRPG SDK which I'm currently developing.

DirectDraw Error (DDERR_UNSUPPORTED)
This probably happens because the low resultion is not supported at your system... You could try an alternative video card driver...
You can also use AnotherFullscreenMode, a tool of mine which uses a different way of playing in fullscreen mode (without changing the screen resolution).

I hope you won't punish me for advertising because of this post... But I am running a file hosting service which is very unlikely to be shut down because it is mostly used by the RPG Maker community: http://share.cherrytree.at
Yes, the features are more limited, but I assure you your files won't get deleted. :-) (unless you upload really illegal stuff there, in this case I will remove it)

Dealing with displaying multiple statuses [2k3]
Again, drawing enemy names above their heads would be a very simple thing with DynRPG (at least it would be simple for a programmer like me to create a plugin which does it, which then makes it simple for you to use it). Just be a bit patient. :)

Wait a bit... I am currently working on a project which will allow people to write plugins for RM2k3 in C++, and displaying status symbols in battle would be very easy with that.
PS: "A bit" is really a bit, because I am just working on the documentation and a few demo plugins, the main work is done (at least I hope so^^).
