People don't comment on the games page because people put all the effort in the topic and have the game page as a throwaway place with outdated information and a download link.
Having both is essentially the worst solution of them all.
Why? It's basically like that right now and it doesn't strike me as bad.
It's not that I'm opposed to the idea of a detailed gamebase, it's that people are more willing to post their comments on forums and not in gamebases. That's what forums are for. For posting comments.
When people come to a site and are not able to post about a game in the forums it's very likely they will not post about it at all. They are accustomed to using forums, and are not accustomed to using gamebases. It's that simple. They don't want to learn how to use a gamebase, they want to post on forums, because they're familiar with how forums function, and they always function in an identical way. Gamebases do not.
That's my main issue with removing the ability to present and discuss games on the forums. I'm afraid it will lead to even lower activity.

I'm not sure if I fully understand the idea, but right now I'm against it.
Why would you want to get rid of GD&R? Why not leave it alone AND implement your ideas? I doubt many paople will want to comment on a game on a special "game page" compared to a forum topic. At least judging from the current state of RMN gamebase and a few other gamebases.

Aedemphia [NOT MINE]
No, man, Desert Nightmare sprites suck, and trust me, I know what I'm talking about. From outlines and shading to palettes, they are very weak. Better than rips, obviously, but not something I'd consider acceptable even in amateur games.
I actually had to spend some time editing all of the protagonist's charsets, because of one beginner's mistake involving synchronization of limb movement. I couldn't bear looking at her sprite otherwise.
His tilesets rock, though.

Aedemphia [NOT MINE]
One thing which makes me curious is how they (the Europeans, though I'm one myself) are not able to come up with decently looking sprites. Charsets, that is. Just look at charsets in Aedemphia. They're awful, absolutely awful. Same gripe I had with a German game someone translated and posted on GW a while back, Desert Nightmare. Very cool tilesets, shit charsets. It's like all the good spriters died or something (or did they all go professional? :)
I guess not many are interested in pixelart :( Afterall, those panoramas are not done pixel by pixel, and sprites pretty much HAVE TO BE.
BTW, I believe Deacon Batista was being ironic there :D

Open panorama in Irfan View, click ctrl+r, a window will open. Change Size Method to Resample and choose a filter. Click OK :) You can do it with any "more advanced" graphics utility like Photoshop, but Irfan is the most simple (and I don't have PS to guide you).
The panorama's from Metal Slug. Download Winkawaks (an arcade emulator). Find a ROM of Metal Slug 1-5. Find that area. Turn off the sprite layer (ctrl+f and uncheck all boxes). Make screnshots (unfiltered). Piece the panorama together in Photoshop or whatever (I use an old version of Paint Shop Pro). Voila, your very own rip! :)

Simply use a filter when resizing that panorama, or launch Winkawaks and rip the whole panorama yourself.
Aedemphia [NOT MINE]
It's common knowledge that ze German and ze French spend much time polishing visuals, adding lighting effects, yadayadayada, but often their games lack in every other department. Eye candy overload and no content.
So don't feel inferior, Max, your games are much better than this one :) Just not on first glance :D

100% testosterone 24/7.
As for the short, I didn't manage to stay till the end. Not interested in this kind of stories.
I share some of Despain's sentiments (song title/composer's name on screen is the biggest offender here), and direction was at times atrocious, but overall it was done well for an amateur RPG Maker machinima.
