Red Trees

I did finally get to play this. It was an enjoyable fun time.

I'm still standing beside my desire for a run button. Disabling run is only for if atmosphere and locales are your game's draw, like Dear Esther or games like Journey that intentionally slow you down at key points. This game had none of that so it was just an inconvenience. I'm known for my patience in some circles but this really isn't about patient or impatient. It's just a convenience that was intentionally removed at the benefit of nothing.

Still, though, this is a great game because it's so simple and just outright enjoyable. It doesn't intentionally rip at the heartstrings like Listen or To The Moon, it doesn't try to do anything big and sublime like Journey or The Last of Us. It just does it's simple thing and the player walks away with fond memories.

Better a good functional demo than a quick but broken one:) Thanks for your efforts and determination.

@Dragnfly
That was super thorough @ @'''
Thanks for taking the time to go through it so thoroughly!
I'll address the bugs when I update the game for sure.

In the future however DragnFly, I will ask that you send reports to me at the email that I've listed in the future. This ensures I don't overlook anything when I go to do touch-ups and repairs.

My level of thoroughness is proportionate to how much I care if a game succeeds bug-free:) As for the non-bug non-grammar stuff do note that I'm technically not in your target audience (although I do tend to like your settings and characters) so I may be blathering on about stuff that goes against what the majority here likes. You'll need more input.

And yeah if I find anything else in future releases I'll try to remember to e-mail them. It'd be good to specify that in your request on the front page though since it's practically impossible to remember everyone's different criteria. If you mean that hashtag thing as a real hashtag, well, I don't have twitter or tumblr or whatever LOL.

This game looks interesting, but good lord you are burning my eyes with the page CSS. xD

I went to CARRIONBLUE's site once when I think Ghost Suburb 2 was new. It's worth a visit once. Well, once because you'll never see anything again after that. Hell, my offspring will be blind for 6 generations hence.

EDIT:
Finished. As always the style and setting are the high points.

I found some problems. *files in a report*

Some of the dialogue gets split weird.

http://i.imgur.com/3rZCEuh.png (and some punctuation missing)
http://i.imgur.com/EvX7WxF.png (the it's/its thing still gets me sometimes too)
http://i.imgur.com/7dBjIEX.png I don't think I'm supposed to be able to stand here
I'm unsure if SerpantVenom was intentional or if you mean Serpent.
http://i.imgur.com/3RPwfDM.png she has a horn or whatever in the bottom pic but not on the map.
(actually, I think I did this whole bit out of order. They're talking about getting something for the ship but I haven't been to the ship yet.
http://i.imgur.com/rXoL449.png I'm so charming that after our 2nd chat she broke the laws of physics and stuck around for me. I feel so loved.
http://i.imgur.com/xHj7o7u.png In fact, she stuck around even after I loaded my save. The wedding is in April. Please, nobody, tell her about my affair with Luna from Melting Moon. Also, you need a space after that period.
-The airlock room door is an action one way and a touch the other way.
-Unsure if it's a bug or not but the cactus doesn't actually use any of the water I give it. I'm actually all for this since limited saves are for chumps and heavy resource management RPGs.
-Resting in battle gives a message saying that it didn't work. I do get S. back so I'm not sure what's not working.
-Abilities list a TP cost but there is no TP stat. I take it that's S.
-When a fight starts Reido's sprite appears for a split second to the left of the stat boxes.

For the spelling and grammar, I recommend writing all the game's text into a word processor first to make sure it's all okay. If you don't have one (because yeah OpenOffice is pretty crappy sometimes) you can type it all up in Notepad and then copy/paste it into a browser with the Grammarly plugin. I'd never pay for premium but even free will catch most of the problems you have.

Things I'm not really a fan of:
-The jagged movement from tile to tile. If it were one of those strategy games or dungeon crawlers where the enemy only moves when you do then I would understand but it looks kind of annoying here.
-My grenade missed everyone. Giving expendable items a miss chance is downright evil.
-In fact, the miss ratio seems really high. To test this I fired up cheat engine on my 2nd run and even with all my stats at 25, 50 and then 111 I miss about 30% of the time.
-It took me a bit to realize that you need S., even for basic attacks. AP systems can be fine if done well but does the AP decrease as you walk around too or something? I stuck around in a random battle just to get my S. really high for the next boss but when the fight started it was back down. I don't play many RM games which use TP so I'm not so familiar with it.
-If you have the max quantity of an item and you pick up another, it gets wasted. Most modern games do the convenience of letting you decide to discard it or leave it for later.

Looking forward to the finished game.

It wouldn't be Carrionblue if I didn't go cross-eyed at some point:)

Sure I'll give it a try. I liked a bunch of your other stuff. Bug reports incoming:)

I downloaded the new version of this game from Gamejolt the other day and it appears to be missing quite a few audio files, particular some BGS. Maybe there was a problem with upload, but the game keeps crashing because it's missing too many audio files.

The one here was just updated to 1.2 so yours is likely out of date.

Project Pi

Remember when I said I'd try this? Yeah... uhhhh... I just remembered. LOL sorry about that. *starts playing*

Ummm... this is pretty much the first impression you give the players. Grammar mistakes right off the bat and some really horrid mapping.

When you look at a map, think about it logically. RM's odd scale and points of perspective are stylistic choices that appeal to us retro lovers but the actual map still needs to be presented logically. This isn't the simple matter of forgetting to put the top on a tree. I'd say that you don't know how to use multi-tile objects but you have some here and intact so I just don't know why the map looks like this.

-How does that ladder work?
-How do the bottles and papers work?
-You have a 3-tile high stack of boxes sitting on what looks like the top of filing cabinets when your walls don't look high enough for that to even be possible.
-You also have high-tech heavy-looking gear sitting on cardboard boxes.
-You mix VXA objects in with MV objects without scaling them. Scaling to MV is very easy. There have been tutorials floating ever since MV's 48x48 tile size was first announced. Not scaling objects can sometimes work with less familiar things like the control panels but everyone knows bookcases and cabinets so it just ends up looking wrong.
-Not having ceiling tiles is an odd stylistic choice but I've seen it work. It doesn't work here though because it creates a sort of folding illusion that's really annoying to look at.
-You have the tops cut off other things but didn't modify the lower half of the object to provide a believable top. Things just stop. It looks like some samurai ran through and sliced things up.

All those problems from one screen. Do they stem from really bizarre and failed stylistic choices or just plain old laziness? Let's continue and find out... <TBC>

http://i.imgur.com/k4uQMPl.jpg End your first sentence with a period. Your 2nd sentence is wrong. I suggest "By approaching it, the save menu will be displayed."
I go easier on spelling and grammar than I do on technical errors because not everyone is raised speaking English and what culture we're born into is something no human being ever has control over.

http://i.imgur.com/LPp2lnA.png Take this for example. Technically this isn't wrong. It just sounds strange. People just call it a bed. "improve your energy" also isn't wrong. We just usually say "recover your energy" because it's assumed that you're resting because you lost some energy.

Now that I'm playing I've run into some other problems.
-The tutorial said approaching the mirror will bring up the save menu. It doesn't. The action button doesn't either.
-Just walking up to the bed automatically makes you use it. If you lose anything for resting, like time, players will be annoyed that there is no confirmation.
-Some of your text boxes have black backgrounds and some have blue. Weird.
-In the menu the sound for switching options doesn't always play. The SE for it is likely too long for the quick action of switching menu options.
-I understand that you can't walk on cracks but this means John can't use his toilet or take a bath.
-Because the VXA sci-fi objects weren't resized properly you hit an invisible wall when approaching from above. The top part of these objects should be a star in the Database -> Tilesets menu so that you can pass behind only the top part.
- http://i.imgur.com/A4wkNts.jpg You can walk into the walls.

I'm sure you have important and complex gameplay mechanics to test out but I don't really have faith in it if you don't even understand the basics yet. Make some trial games for your friends, look up tutorials for anything you don't understand and learn to use RPG Maker before releasing stuff onto the internet. A developer's reputation is super important to them and giving such a lazy first impression will only reduce the number of people who will play your games. Be patient and learn. The internet isn't going anywhere.
