It seems like you have an ambitious system, but it's hard to tell because everything involved in the demo is too abrupt and simple. Abrupt as in, who is this huge army? Simple as in map design and, of course, the lack of story.
No matter how involving the system is, you'll have a hard time getting people to play if it looks like amateur hour.
Also, I need to get kills to use magic? D=

/me is using 2k3 and will be making his game RTP independent.
I mean come on guys, the amount of resources available for 2k3 you shouldn't need to even touch the rtp anyway (unless you just happen to like it).
I've never made a game RTP-independant before so I don't know what's involved, and I didn't want to spend an afternoon figuring it out.
I gladly would for a main project, but this is has a deadline and time is important.
If I have to add it, then what's the most efficient way to go about it?

Question regarding rule : The judges should not require any additional components to play your entry.
Is the 2k3 RTP exempt? Everybody here should have that...

What are YOU in this for?
Two reasons. One simple, one ambitious.

I'm an artist and I need a creative outlet.
Ambitious Reason
My long term goal is to build a media empire akin to what Walt Disney or George Lucas created for themselves. I'll start with video games created by amateurs with talent, probably some roughnecks from this community or similiar. Then I'll move into other things like animated feature films and series, toys, and other paraphanelia.
But it isn't about money (won't deny fame though ;D). I'm more interested in asserting my values and beliefs through the use of storytelling. That's generally the goal of any artist so nothing new there.
Secondary, I'm interested in living life and loving it, and doing what I do best while creating is the way I see that being accomplished.
As a tertiary benefit, I want to help indie artists develop their abilities. The current system for media is very make-or-break and sometimes is too post-secondary heavy. I don't believe art should be institutionalised.
So how do I intend to accomplish this apart from every other joe with big ideas? My best art talent is writing. I can structure a story from beginning to end, fill it with a colorful cast, and keep the dialogue fresh and fluid (usually). My best practical talent is investing. I know how to build capital.
So unless I do something foolish like knock up a girlfriend or lose all my money in a ponzi scheme, expect to see a big company with "Dy" in the name in the future.

And I love how Storm is breakdancing. Keira is obviously impressed and Xander is ashamed of his inferior abilities.

The Question, Mr. Kenton Anderson, the Question...
Truth is stranger than fiction.
In paying a lot of attention to global geopolitics, I get my inspiration from real world happenings, both real and theoretical. From there, I adapt ideologies into my characters and they tend to define their own personality from there.
My current project began swimming in my head years ago as typical "Fight da empire, yo". The old fundamentals are still there, but it takes on a larger clash of civilizations feel as it progresses.

He's big enough to wield a 4-foot chainsaw; the kind you see in Lumberjack Challenge.
Speaking of which, does he? :D
